<text>This photo was probably taken in 1954. The Living Rosary was a traditional ceremony featuring members of the student body forming the shape of a rosary on Madonna Circle in front of Notre Dame Hall. The cross usually consisted of the May Queen and her court. Other students represented the Pater Nosters and the Ave Marias of the rosary. The Rosary pageant probably began circa 1937 as part of the annual May Day celebrations. The school began observing May Day in 1931, during the first full academic year.
