  • Two-piece velvet pantsuit. Single breasted jacket with appliquéd and embroidered accents, corded edges, princess seams. Paired with velvet straight leg pants, also corded at hem and yoke.
  • Two-piece skirt suit with front button closure, extended offset placket, and rolled collar. Bound buttonholes. Paired with paneled pencil skirt, side slits and zipper closure.
  • Pink two-piece, double breasted skirt suit. Paneled jacket, back tied half belt, and notched lapels. ¾ length paneled sleeves. Paired with slightly gathered pencil skirt. All lined. Size 6.

  • B. Skirt; very slim; bias bound slash pockets and slim skirt with bias bound slash pockets; zipper on left side. C. Putty colored silk jacquard vest; pattern of gray, beige, and brown leaves; shawl collar; seven self-covered buttons and bound buttonholes; fitted; pointed center front; watch pocket on right side; back is plain putty colored silk, underlined in matching silk; half belt with pewter colored metal buckle. Worn with coat (Object ID #2004.03.368.A) to form three piece suit.
  • Brown linen skirt suit. A. Jacket; collarless, square set-in sleeves, seaming at back creates a peplum shape, three 1/2" covered buttons and bound buttonhole closure at center front. B. Skirt; dirndl style, large pleat worked as part of each inset pocket.

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne. Donor was the niece of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt.
  • Beige and dark brown hand-woven wool tweed suit; yarn appears hand spun with large slubs. A. Jacket; cardigan shape, collarless, six plastic beige buttons and hand stitched buttonholes, slash pocket vents in the back on the princess line. B. Skirt; waist facing, center back zipper, one slash pocket on the right-hand side, separate silk lining attached to the waist facing. Label Valentina.
