This ensemble was given to the donor's mother by a wealthy lady she worked for in New York City in the 1920s and '30s. The woman's identity is unknown. A bolduc was found on back of tag with words "Mrs. Vreeland". This dress might have belonged to Diane Vreeland, although this is not confirmed.]]>

Note from Sister Aloyse Hessburg: "Blue knit pile fabric by Borg Textile Group, a Wisconsin industry. They challenged the senior class in 1970 to create garments 'for a winter evening' using their fabric. Christee selected this fabric (at that time the most flexible of their line) and used the silk fabric bodice and lining of silk crepe. The fur closure hooks were the only available on short notice. (Industry would have had time to get correct size and color.) In a way - industry and Mount Mary College were promoting the possibility of using Borg Textiles to the Wisconsin public."]]>

In May 1964, Mount Mary College awarded an Honorary Degree to Nelle Harper Lee, Pulitzer Prize winning author of To Kill A Mockingbird. In accepting the honor Ms. Lee traveled to Mount Mary and took part in commencement ceremonies, which resulted in a friendship between her and Sister John Francis Schuh, President of Mount Mary.]]>
