While the dress was "lovely," the writer took issue with the length, saying "but how can anyone in a right-thinking mind sanction the length of it - for a mature woman. This is one of the reasons why the Catholic Religion and the World is going to "POT." But despite their strong opinion, the writer signs off, "Very respectfully yours."
While the letter is dated December 8, 1967, and refers to the December 8 edition of the Milwaukee Journal, the wedding occurred December 9. -

Johnson, at the White House on December 9, 1967. He also asks for a photograph and a brief biography to use when mentioning her achievement in the spring 1968 alumni newsletter. -
