  • Burgundy crepe evening gown; straps are lattice-like construction created with grosgrain ribbon and crepe; midriff construction is same as straps; straight skirt with slit at center front; invisible side zipper closure; hook closures at bodice; skirt lined in acetate; bodice lined in self-fabric; ankle length.

    Designed by the donor, Jan Carter Osterholm, a Mount Mary alumna, while working for Andrea Polizzi.
  • Ivory wool theater coat; shawl collar; two large button and loop closures at center front; long sleeves, gathered at shoulders; lace and soutache trim at sleeve hems; soutache trim on collar and along princess seams at front and back; satin lining; mid-calf length. Part of a theater suit with dress (Object ID #2022.05.01.a).

    This suit is an exact reproduction of a 1908 theater suit in the collection of the Wisconsin State Historical Society. The donor made this replica as her senior project in Fashion Design at Mount Mary College in 1974.
  • Ivory wool dress; sweetheart neckline; ivory tulle illusion panel with lace detailing covers bosom to standing collar; similar illusion panel at back; center back hook and eye closures; short wool sleeves, gathered at shoulders; long tulle undersleeves with lace detailing; full length skirt; soutache braid trim all over bodice and down center front and back of skirt; slightly trained; cotton lining. Part of a theater suit with coat (Object ID #2022.05.01.b).

    This suit is an exact reproduction of a 1908 theater suit in the collection of the Wisconsin State Historical Society. The donor made this replica as her senior project in Fashion Design at Mount Mary College in 1974.

Zipper teeth have given out.

    Made by Mount Mary Fashion student Laura Schultz in 1985. This is a copy of a 1920s white evening dress by Vionnet in the collection.
  • Multicolored wool sweater coat in shades of purple, pink, and brown; inside is solid pink; jewel collar with thin pink ribbon inside; single snap closure; shoulder pads; shoulder roll for added shape; long sleeves; flared bottom; calf length.

    The donor bought the coat from creator Virginia Halaska, Mount Mary College class of 1952.
  • A. Black wool twill worsted nun's habit; jewel neckline; shoulder yoke; large sleeves with turned-back cuffs; 2 black safety pin closure; 8 tucks into shoulder yoke; unfitted waist; ankle length. B. Black herringbone weave, possibly nylon, cinture belt; hook and eye closures in front under flap. C. Black cotton slip; scoop neckline; sleeveless; princess seams; right inseam pocket; knee length. D. White plain weave cotton forehead cover; rectangle; two pairs of ties on short ends. E. White starched cotton wimple; two connected rectangles; two ties; tied at top of head and pinned in back, making two horizontal pleats at neck across shoulders; should have vertical fold lines in front when worn. F. Black worsted wool veil; white starched linen underveil glued to front underside; connects with snaps at back underside; veil pinned at center front forehead to forehead cover. G. Nine straight pins with black or white heads; used to pin veil to forehead cover. H. White polyester knitted skullcap; worn under veil.

    This style of habit was worn by Sister M. Jovanna and all School Sisters of Notre Dame before 1964.
