Letter to Sister Aloyse Hessburg, undated
A letter from an unknown writer ("A Lynda Bird fan"), likely written in mid- to late December 1967, to Sister Aloyse Hessburg of Mount Mary College (Milwaukee, Wisconsin). The writer discusses the mother-of-the-groom dress that Sister Aloyse designed and created for Mrs. Frances Howard Robb for her son Charles Robb's wedding to Lynda Bird Johnson, daughter of President Lyndon B. Johnson, at the White House on December 9, 1967. While the dress was "just beautiful and very appropriate for the occasion," the writer took issue with the length, saying "I thought the dress was just a trifle too short." -

Lillian Thomas at senior recital
Lillian Thomas, B.A. Class of 1954. A native of Mobile, Alabama. According to the school newspaper Lillian Thomas presented her senior recital on May 9, 1954, which included selections from Mozart and Verdi.
This image is part of a collection of snapshots likely taken by Virginia Moore or her friends with a personal camera during Virginia's time as a student at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (1953-1957). The snapshots were printed on Kodak Velox paper. The captions are primarily based upon information found on the back of the original photos, most likely written by Virginia. Some images had no information at all and individuals or events are identified based on other captions and information available in the Mount Mary archives. Captions in quotes are verbatim from the original images. -

The dress is part of a theater suit with coat (Object ID #2022.05.01.b). This suit is an exact reproduction of a 1908 theater suit in the collection of the Wisconsin State Historical Society.
The exact date of the photograph is unknown but must have been 1974 or after. -

Floral print chiffon cocktail dress; floral print is green, black, and dark gray on light gray ground. Layer of black tulle over chiffon, tulle decorated with large black sequins, black beads, white pearls, and clear rhinestones in an asymmetrical cluster at right hip. Scoop neckline in front; deep V-neckline in back, straight silhouette, sleeveless, many layers of black organza rectangular ‘petals’ on each shoulder, line of beading extends from right princess line to the hem in both front and back and around the hip, above knee length, side zipper and buttons closure.
