As Sister Aloyse Hessburg began establishing the fashion design program at Mount Mary College, materials were needed to publicize the new program. The brochures above, to the left, and below were preserved in Mount Mary University Archives and provide information about the program from the very beginning (1965-1966) through 1992, primarily aimed at prospective students. Other efforts increased awareness of the new fashion design program within the Milwaukee community. In 1970, Mount Mary College partnered with Gimbels department store on a display (see images to the right and below). From June 16th to 29th, Gimbels displayed clothes designed by Mount Mary students in their window at the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Plankinton Avenue and in Gimbels Fifth Avenue Shop (2nd Floor), providing exposure for the garments and the fashion design program as well as raising money from the sale of the clothing.

Another example of collaborating with community partners occurred when the fashion design program provided models for the Threads of Flax and Gold exhibit presented by Milwaukee Public Museum and Shop International. Throughout its history, engaging with the local community has been an important part of the Mount Mary fashion design program!
Sister Aloyse also maintained connections with fashion design program alumnae and other supporters through newsletters. The gallery below contains newsletters from fall 1978, March 1981, and February 1983; click on an image to see more detail and additional pages. These missives contain news of the program (workshops and other events, curriculum changes, internships, etc.), requests for support with certain projects and classes, information about job openings, and other tidbits. They also celebrate the many and varied accomplishments, both personal and professional, of graduates, including job changes, careers in the fashion industry, marriages, and babies.
