  • Ivory faille wedding gown; neck yoke buttoned with covered ball and loops at front; no waist definition; large sleeves with wide cuffs with covered ball and loops; trained; couture techniques.
  • Green peacock feather toque; large scattered "rhinestones" on felt base
  • Yellow silk taffeta helmet hat; fits close to head; exaggerated ruff extends down back; padded with tulle; lining has been cut away; white netting has been slit.
  • White 4-ply silk crepe wedding helmet; fits close to head; dips low in back; self-fabric band and bow in back; lined in white silk shantung.

  • Black ostrich feather hat; feathers attached to black muslin which is then sewn onto beige organza skull cap. Chignon influence, meant to be worn on back of head to look like hair.
  • Off-white silk satin beret; very large; small band around face folds back; main part of beret tucked into band; back pleated into off-white button; tuck at back of band to decrease size. Attributed to Charles Kleibacker.
  • Unbleached muslin banner; repeating silk screen pattern with black ink; design is the name "Charles Kleibacker" in a "jigsaw puzzle piece" arrangement; 37.25 inches wide by 103 inches long.
  • Notes from Charles Kleibacker's "Couture Sewing Clinic" at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The document contains typed text, fashion diagrams, and handwritten notes. It is undated but likely came from the 1970s or 1980s.

  • Black, white, and beige striped silk chiffon ensemble. A. Blouse; high neckline with small standing collar; four snaps at collar; long sleeves ending in bound cuffs; sleeves gathered at shoulder cap; flared and gathered peplum; large ruffle from left shoulder down and incorporated into peplum; hand-rolled hems on fly-away ruffle; two snap closures at left waist. B. Harem pants; band at waist; two snaps and zipper closure at center back; voluminous pant legs end in tight cuffs at ankles with each cuff closed with two snaps. C. Belt; middle part of belt lined with solid taupe fabric under silk, and black on the back; unbacked ties at either end; chiffon at middle of belt is gathered. D. Light taupe silk charmeuse teddy; bias-cut; V-neckline; spaghetti straps; gathering at bust; small inverted triangular cut-out just below center bust; seams down center back and center front; very short inseam. Val recalls being mentored by Sister Aloyse Hessburg and Charles Kleibacker (especially in fitting). The fabric was purchased from Kovack Fabrics in downtown Milwaukee where she worked for numerous years.

  • Flat art sketch, black and white on Artists pressed cardboard, 7.5 inches by 10 inches, watercolor and pencil, back labeled with "9-80", made by designer of garment.
  • Corset and skirt ensemble. A. Beige brocade corset; floral damask pattern, right side zipper closure, asymmetrical with tucks under left breast, external boning in front, asymmetrical point on right front at bottom. B. Brown chiffon skirt; made up of two fabrics- most of the skirt is a tan ground of abstract shapes in dark brown and reddish pink. The other fabric is pleated chiffon in khaki yellows of stripes. Used for a flounce on the hip and an underskirt; no waistband, center back zipper, many flounces and layers throughout, asymmetrical, ankle length, lined in tan chiffon.

  • Lace gown; bodice of gold lame lace, purple crinkled taffeta straps, bow at center front under bodice, empire waistline, skirt of brown floral lace with green and orange flower clusters, slim skirt has princess seaming and short train in back, invisible zipper at center back.

  • White and black printed silk gazar dress; pattern of white ground printed with black balls 2 ½ inches in diameter connected by thin bars, narrow straps at front, deep v-neckline, spaghetti straps in back, additional tie extending from bust, midriff yoke decorated with five medallions of beads at front, skirt has stitched down pleats at the waist, two rows of fabric near hem stitched on intermittently, center back zipper, knee length, lined in white china silk. Worn with matching jacket (Object ID #2013.04.20.B). This item is from Christian LaCroix Spring 2007 Ready-to-Wear collection.
  • Blue banlon evening ensemble; horizontal wave pattern in multiple shades of blue. A. Gown; standing collar; long sleeves; column silhouette; center back zipper closure with covered buttons sewn to placket; ankle length. B. Cape; ties at neck; split in two sections. Performance ensemble worn by Hildegarde.
