Dark red felted wool coat; long sleeves with raglan seams; .5 inch wide flap coming out of seam (toward the neck) from mid-seam to back neck; collar is lower half of a notched lapel, folding into the center front opening; a seam comes down from either armpit, leading into pockets at waist; center back seam; no closures; label: "Geoffrey Beene". -

From donor's maternal great grandmother, Mrs. Wayne Sawyer, who was part of the Crafts family from Vermont. Shawl was manufactured in Paisley, Scotland and imported by Lewis Jones, importer of fine shawls. First owner of the shawl was Mrs. Chapman Crafts.
