  • Claire Bidermann, B.S. Class of 1957, from Crystal Lake, Illinois, is on the right in this image. According to the 1957 alumnae newsletter, “during the summer, Claire Biedermann will be a counselor at Camp Villa Marie, Pistakee Bay, Illinois—a camp for Chicago orphans under the supervision of Chicago Catholic Charities. She will teach third grade in the Crystal Lake Public Schools System in fall.” Carol Devience was also part of the Class of 1957 but it is unclear if she graduated from Mount Mary. Both women are in formal school attire which was required for various school functions in the 1950s. While at first glance this appears to be a graduation photo, it could have been taken at other events such as the Capping Ceremony or Academic Investiture.
