Evening gown
Black and white silk evening gown; V-neckline at front and back; heavily pleated throughout; shoulder pads; long sleeves, one black and one white; no cuffs; torso is both black and white; dropped asymmetrical waistline; black skirt; full length; left side zipper closure.
Worn by donor, Bobbe Fine, to the Mt. Sinai Gala held at the Ambassador East Hotel in Chicago, Illinois in 1980. Mrs. Fine served as co-chair. The gala's theme was Le Bal des Papillons. Gown was purchased at Kanes in the Ambassador East Hotel. -
Sandals
Copper colored leather sandals; T-strap; faux snakeskin ankle strap; four straps over toe; 3.34 inch narrow gold Spanish heels. -
Dress
A. Ivory 4 ply crepe shirtdress; large roll collar; 3 tucks on each side of opening; center front closure of covered buttons down length of dress; long set-in shirt sleeves with cuff; no waist definition or seams; backed in white acetate; long. B. Black satin ribbon belt; stitched to center back and sides of dress. -
Three piece ensemble
A. Black wool jersey tunic top; high round neckline; front of tunic is cut on bias; five self-covered buttons and bound buttonholes. B. Black wool jersey straight skirt; lined; short length. C. Black wool jersey belt; self-covered button and bound buttonhole. -
Blouse
Navy blue silk crepe blouse; round neckline; 2 inch front band with white top-stitching done 1/4 inch apart on diagonal; 3 small buttons on front band; white top-stitching around neckline and sleeve bands; long straight sleeves; 3/8 inch band at bottom of sleeves which buttons. -
Designer sketch
Flat art sketch, black and white on Artists pressed cardboard, 7.5 inches by 10 inches, watercolor and pencil, back labeled with "9-80", made by designer of garment. -
Four piece ensemble
Black, white, and beige striped silk chiffon ensemble. A. Blouse; high neckline with small standing collar; four snaps at collar; long sleeves ending in bound cuffs; sleeves gathered at shoulder cap; flared and gathered peplum; large ruffle from left shoulder down and incorporated into peplum; hand-rolled hems on fly-away ruffle; two snap closures at left waist. B. Harem pants; band at waist; two snaps and zipper closure at center back; voluminous pant legs end in tight cuffs at ankles with each cuff closed with two snaps. C. Belt; middle part of belt lined with solid taupe fabric under silk, and black on the back; unbacked ties at either end; chiffon at middle of belt is gathered. D. Light taupe silk charmeuse teddy; bias-cut; V-neckline; spaghetti straps; gathering at bust; small inverted triangular cut-out just below center bust; seams down center back and center front; very short inseam. Accompanied by original sketch of garment (Object ID #2024.02.02).
Designed and built by the Fashion Design student as a couture project in 1981 at Mount Mary College. Val recalls being mentored by Sister Aloyse Hessburg and Charles Kleibacker (especially in fitting). The fabric was purchased from Kovack Fabrics in downtown Milwaukee where she worked for numerous years. -
Two piece ensemble
A. Black satin oversized pullover blouse; standing collar; slit at the neckline; short kimono sleeves with turned-back cuffs lined in emerald green silk satin; slits at sides; not lined; hip length. B. Black silk satin wrap-around skirt; contour waistband; two large emerald green silk satin buttons in front waistline; tucks in front; hem bound with bias strips; short length.
Worn by donor, Cyma Rubin. -
Coat
Gray plaid double cloth box coat; turned-back collar, self-fabric ties as only front closure; two-piece sleeves, plaid perfectly matched; in-seam side pocket. -
Dress
Black silk broadcloth fit and flare dress; keyhole neckline, banded; slit below neckline; natural waistline; sleeveless; skirt has inverted box pleats at center front and side fronts; mid-calf length. -
Dress
A. Black crepe dress; black and silver pinstriped crepe shawl collar; set on the bias; two patch pockets at bust with black and silver pinstriped flaps; center front placket button front; straight sleeves with two buttons at hems; straight skirt; knee length. B. Black and silver pinstriped crepe scarf. -
Three piece ensemble
A. Two-tone blue and turquoise silk crepe jacket; boxy silhouette; shawl collar with turquoise underlayer at collar and front edge; straight sleeves with turquoise turned-back cuffs; unlined. B. Turquoise silk crepe skirt; dirndl style; layered, ankle length with longer blue underlayer that matches color of jacket. C. Two-tone blue and turquoise beaded braid tie belt.
Stains on jacket on both left and right sides. -
Blouse and skirt
Beige with black print silk crepe ensemble. A. Blouse; loose-fitting, tucks into skirt; high neckline with binding, tied at center front; 5 inch front neckline opening; bishop sleeves with 1 inch cuffs; shirttail bottom. B. Straight skirt with black print; back zipper closure; gathered onto waistband; unpressed pleats in front; lined; knee length.
Worn with scarf (Object ID #2000.444.c) to form three piece ensemble. -
Gown
A. Red chiffon gown with black polka dots; gathered scoop neckline; no waist shaping; long sleeves; ankle length; dress is lined, sleeves are sheer; zipper closure in back lining; snaps at back in chiffon; dress is smocked onto binding at neckline. Missing belt. -
Dress
White satin and black crepe dress; tuxedo look; white satin faux vest over black crepe sheath dress; deep V-neckline in front; double-breasted with black buttons; long set-in sleeves; center back zipper closure; lined; knee length. -

Black crepe shift dress; jewel neckline; long one-piece set-in sleeves; no darts; invisible zipper closure at center back; pleated satin swag from under right arm over left shoulder, tails hang over left shoulder back; slit at back hem; knee length. -
