Detail of interior bodice
A. Red silk taffeta evening gown with silk-screened palmetto frond design; motifs outlined in black beads on bodice; large circles on stem separated by 4 leaves on front skirt; square neckline; short sleeves; empire waistline; A-line skirt has inverted box pleat at center front, 2 pleats at back; black satin ribbon attached at waistline; center back zipper closure; internal corset; lined in red rayon. Worn with stole (2003.03.11.b) and coat (2003.03.11.c) to form a three piece ensemble.
Worn by donor Aileen Ryan. The fabric was designed by Sister Remy Revor based on a historic Milwaukee design. The ensemble was created on designer Rosalie Macrini's receipt of an award from Mount Mary College in the mid-1960s.
This ensemble was the first official donation to Mount Mary's Historic Costume Collection (now the Fashion Archive). -

Off-white fabric infused paper with wood grain texture cover. Silver print of White House with trees and date on front. 13 pages of text, bound with an 1/8" salmon cord with tassel. [4 7/8" x 6 3/4"]

Turquoise satin wrap evening gown; deep V-neckline to waist at both front and back; thin strap at base of neck at neck connects front and back; sleeveless; overlap that snaps in front at waist; 3 covered button closure at center back waistline; draped skirt open from waist to hem in both front and back; deep pleats over hips; ankle length. "Beginning Impressions" tag. B. Turquoise chiffon and satin striped cocoon style jacket; thin gold stripe fabric; fabric gathered into neck edge and wrist edges; edges bound with turquoise satin; button and loop closures at wrists; not lined; couture techniques throughout.

Peacock blue plush knit pile evening ensemble. A. Gown; V-neckline; long bishop sleeves; empire waistline; center front zipper closure; light blue silk crepe bodice, gathers into shoulder yoke; Peacock blue knit pile A-line skirt; floor length.
Worn with jacket (Object ID #2010.11.01.b) to form two piece ensemble.
Note from Sister Aloyse Hessburg: "Blue knit pile fabric by Borg Textile Group, a Wisconsin industry. They challenged the senior class in 1970 to create garments 'for a winter evening' using their fabric. Christee selected this fabric (at that time the most flexible of their line) and used the silk fabric bodice and lining of silk crepe. The fur closure hooks were the only available on short notice. (Industry would have had time to get correct size and color.) Designed by the donor, Jan Carter Osterholm, a Mount Mary alumna, while working for Andrea Polizzi. -

Purple double knit dress; oversized funnel collar; plain short sleeves; fitted through torso; insets and style seams front and back; flares out below waist to knee length; center front seam, side seams, and zipper closure at center back seam, with hook and eye closure at neck.
The donor, Lois Perlewitz, constructed this dress in Sister Aloyse Hessburg's Couture class. -
Dress
Gray wool flannel dress; jewel neckline; sleeveless; seam going down center front, forms into box pleat; 2 princess seams that come down into waist and form box pleats, one princess seam starts at shoulder and other starts at middle of front armhole; 3 horizontal seams; one goes through center front seam and is located right under bust, extending from center seam to first princess seams on each side; other horizontal seams are side seams that extend .5 inch from armpits and go to first princess seam closest to side of garment; center back zipper closure that forms into box pleat; 2 back princess seams on either side of zipper, these also form box pleats; knee length. The donor, Sharon Lipinski, constructed this dress in Sister Aloyse Hessburg's Couture class. -

Black crepe evening gown; slip style; "Brancusi" inset with black velvet zig-zag down body; left breast covered in velvet; slit at center back skirt; invisible zipper closure at center side.
