  • Child's blue and white striped wool knit dress; scoop neckline; sleeveless; horizontal stripes on shoulder yoke, vertical stripes on skirt; skirt gathered into yoke; 4-petal flower appliqué on right hip, flower has white center and two green leaves; two blue ties at back waist; unlined.
  • Child's blue pinstriped cotton dress; A-line; sleeveless; scoop neckline; white bands around neckline and armholes; 2 white and yellow daisy appliques at right shoulder, 1 at left, and 2 slightly left of center front; 2 snaps at shoulder; zipper closure at front left, snap below zipper; attached half belt in back with one button closure.

    This dress has features similar to Florence Eiseman's "Functional Fashions" line for children with disabilities from the early 1960s. It is unknown if this dress was officially part of that line or merely uses similar design elements.

Navy blue silk crepe dress with white stripes; jewel neckline; bodice cut on the bias; bodice has navy lining; white domed button closures up center back; seam at natural waistline; long set-in sleeves with shoulder pads; three buttons at back sleeve cuffs; pleated skirt; mid-calf length; double folded hem at bottom. B. White leather belt; oval-shaped white buckle with navy blue edging; "Galanos" printed inside.

  • Lavender silk crepe day dress with white stripes; high scoop neckline with button closure at center front neck; zipper closure down center front; drawstring-gathered waist at natural waistline; raglan sleeves with 3.5 inch cuffs at bottom; cuffs have single white button closure at wrist backs; pleating from mid thigh to hem; mid-calf length.

  • Brown wool double knit sheath dress; 2 parallel white stripes run down center front; set of 3 white/2 black stripes run down princess lines; stripe pattern repeated on back; high scoop neckline; left side metal zipper closure, hand-inserted; hook and eye and snap closures at shoulder; 7.5 inch band at bottom with horizontal stripes.

  • Navy blue with white stripes wool dress; mandarin collar; long sleeves; stripes are seamed on bodice and fall into pleats on skirt; center front zipper closure.

    The long sleeves were put back into the dress by the donor, Steven Stipelman.
  • Pink, white, and black horizontally striped cotton dress; rolled collar; short kimono sleeves with gussets; bust darts; cuffs edged with black satin; appliquéd vertical black stripes on bodice front; one black plastic button closure; very full skirt; knife pleats at waist.
  • Navy blue and white horizontal striped jersey ensemble. A. Dress; jewel neckline; short set-in sleeves; straight, unfitted cut; knee length; lined in white muslin; center back zipper. Almost certainly Bill Blass for Maurice Rentner.

  • Black, white, and beige striped silk chiffon ensemble. A. Blouse; high neckline with small standing collar; four snaps at collar; long sleeves ending in bound cuffs; sleeves gathered at shoulder cap; flared and gathered peplum; large ruffle from left shoulder down and incorporated into peplum; hand-rolled hems on fly-away ruffle; two snap closures at left waist. B. Harem pants; band at waist; two snaps and zipper closure at center back; voluminous pant legs end in tight cuffs at ankles with each cuff closed with two snaps. C. Belt; middle part of belt lined with solid taupe fabric under silk, and black on the back; unbacked ties at either end; chiffon at middle of belt is gathered. D. Light taupe silk charmeuse teddy; bias-cut; V-neckline; spaghetti straps; gathering at bust; small inverted triangular cut-out just below center bust; seams down center back and center front; very short inseam. Accompanied by original sketch of garment (Object ID #2024.02.02).

    Designed and built by the Fashion Design student as a couture project in 1981 at Mount Mary College. Val recalls being mentored by Sister Aloyse Hessburg and Charles Kleibacker (especially in fitting). The fabric was purchased from Kovack Fabrics in downtown Milwaukee where she worked for numerous years.

  • Navy blue and gold striped velvet cap; soft crown with fur brim; ties at right side.
