White and blue printed silk crepe evening gown; large stylized chrysanthemum print; slim silhouette; cap sleeves; broad shoulders; cut-out section in bodice, held together by beige marquisette; draped skirt with slit; silk at shoulders has been repaired and lined. Custom made for Hildegarde and used as a performance gown in the Persian Room of the Plaza Hotel, New York City. -

Black silk crepe evening gown; strapless; six white narrow vertical strips applied evenly along gown with white bows at top; strips run down dress below knee, flaring out with six godets; black sequin beading runs completely around white strips; corselet bodice understructure, back hook closures; center back zipper with hook and eye closures. Worn by Hildegarde for the first time in Milwaukee in 1948. -

B. White floral silk screened day dress; pattern is squares with wide range of colored stemmed flowers; rounded neckline in front; sleeveless; twenty and one-half inch long hand-overcast center back concealed zipper; straight silhouette; double inverted pleats on either side from waistline; plain white silk panel down center front and back. C. Narrow green silk belt; backed in leather; leather is brittle and has broken into three pieces; buckle with matching keepers. Exclusively for Bullocks Wilshire. Worn with coat (Object ID #2004.03.48.A) to form three piece ensemble. -

White silk shantung coat; jewel collar; three large white plastic buttons on center front closure; three-quarter length set-in sleeves; flat pockets on horizontal seam at hips; two inverted box pleats on front; back is plain; lined in white crepe. Worn with dress (Object ID #2004.03.48.B) and belt (Object ID #2004.03.48.C) to form three piece ensemble. -

A. White Irish linen and lace cocktail dress; graduated-size horizontal bands of lace; low square neckline; wide lace shoulder straps with crochet drop bobbles; eighteen 1/2" inch center back zipper; slim fitted silhouette; beige silk bands stitched under center front and back seams. B. Beige silk camisole; V-neckline; lingerie straps; intricate stitching around bust; center back zipper. -
Blouse and skirt
B. Light aqua polka dot silk shantung over-blouse; boat neckline; short sleeves; 4 inch cutout vents in front with bias banding continuing around the back hem; neckline is bound to match; under arm zipper on left side. C. Light aqua polka dot silk shantung skirt; slim, straight silhouette; unpressed side pleat on either side; "hand-stitched" down center pleat; fabric is matched to create plain center panel; zipper on left side.
Worn with jacket (Object ID #2004.03.498.A) to form three piece suit.
