Two piece evening ensemble
A. Black crepe and fringe evening gown; cowl neckline at front; deep V-neckline at back; thin straps wrapped with fringe; straight silhouette; fringe starts at hips and goes down to floor; applied on base in chevron pattern; floor length. B. Black crepe and fringe capelet; fringe applied to base in chevron pattern; hem of capelet is also chevron shaped; center front opening with snap closure at neck; label: "Mainbocher, 12 Avenue George V a Paris"; twill tape bolduc on back of label: "21381- Mrs. Vreeland".
This ensemble was given to the donor's mother by a wealthy lady she worked for in New York City in the 1920s and '30s. The woman's identity is unknown. A bolduc was found on back of tag with words "Mrs. Vreeland". This dress might have belonged to Diane Vreeland, although this is not confirmed. -

Salmon pink silk chiffon evening ensemble. A. Gown with faceted crystal tear drops and band of silver bugle beads; tiny bugle beading and rhinestones at high waist; four layers of chiffon. B. Pale pink capelet; trimmed with tear drop beads. C. Scarf; triangular shaped; trimmed with tear drop beads. Worn as a performance ensemble by Hildegarde. -

Koos van den Akker coat
A. Bright yellow-orange mohair coat; asymmetrical roll collar, trapeze silhouette, two large plastic buttons on each shoulder, long set-in sleeves, midcalf length, unlined. B. Matching mohair capelet; decorated with appliqués in blue, purple, and green mohair and blue printed cotton. Edged in yellow leather, buttons on the right shoulder over the coat.

Evening capelet
Black silk brocade and velvet pelerine evening capelet; floral jacquard with clipped velvet design accented with jet beads. Lined with silk velvet, forms deep front facings. Edge between jacquard and velvet beaded with sequins and jet caviar beads on netting.
Antique Spanish capelet or shawl often worn by Valentina to complement her own garments. Likely served as an inspiration for wraps and shawls she designed.
