White silk satin evening gown with hot pink voided velvet undulating lines and flower heads; jewel neckline; sleeveless; bodice fitted through darts; sewn in belt at waistline seam; center back metal zipper closure; side zipper closure; gathered skirt; unlined; ankle length; label in skirt; couture techniques.
Worn by Mrs. Carlton Henry of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. -

A. Black crepe and fringe evening gown; cowl neckline at front; deep V-neckline at back; thin straps wrapped with fringe; straight silhouette; fringe starts at hips and goes down to floor; applied on base in chevron pattern; floor length.
Worn with capelet (Object ID #2015.03.01.b) to form two piece evening ensemble.
This ensemble was given to the donor's mother by a wealthy lady she worked for in New York City in the 1920s and '30s. The woman's identity is unknown. A bolduc was found on back of tag with words "Mrs. Vreeland". This dress might have belonged to Diane Vreeland, although this is not confirmed. -

Black crepe and fringe capelet; fringe applied to base in chevron pattern; hem of capelet is also chevron shaped; center front opening with snap closure at neck; label: "Mainbocher, 12 Avenue George V a Paris"; twill tape bolduc on back of label: "21381- Mrs. Vreeland".

Pale gray silk satin and wool jersey hostess gown; roll collar; bodice and long sleeves of heathered wool jersey; rolled back satin cuffs; floor length silk satin skirt gathered at natural waist; center back zipper closure; belt loops at side seams, but belt is missing.
Worn by Audrey Ross. She was part of the Ross family who owned J. H. Collectibles. -

Navy blue and pink paisley silk chiffon gown; made of sari fabric; bodice constructed in criss-cross style; raglan sleeves flow from front and back panels that are attached at neck edge; back tie belt.
Designed and sewn by Lynn Fontanne in 1965 using fabric from an Indian sari purchased at a London antique store. Worn by Lynn during an interview on PBS in 1980, and in the photograph linked below, "Lynn Fontanne with Cole Leslie and Alfred Lunt." Donor was the niece of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt. -

Pale pink tulle and silk taffeta prom gown; pink tulle pink taffeta; pale pink feathers around bust; rhinestone straps; tulle decorated with embroidered pale pink flowers and rhinestones; fitted torso; flared skirt; covered buttons and loops in back; ankle length.
Made by the aunt of the donor, Gaetanina Balistreri, for Balistreri to wear to the 1943 Mount Mary College Junior Prom. The gown was originally made strapless, but Mount Mary College required straps, so rhinestone straps were added. -

Magenta wool crepe cocktail gown; bateau neckline at front; 45 covered buttons with loops running diagonally from right front shoulder to hip line; sleeveless; back has asymmetrical neckline and back detail; ankle length; white stains near hem.
