  • Green silk shantung A-line coat; shawl collar, small; one covered button and bound buttonhole closure; upper yoke, top of sleeve, and coat cut in one; roll-up sleeve with roll up cuff; 2 double inverted back pleats released at shoulder blade; poor boy length sleeves; lined with changeant green/brown silk taffeta; midcalf length. Worn by Valentina. Possibly not designed by Valentina due to the construction techniques used.
  • Purple velvet evening coat with machine-embroidered pink roses and metallic green leaves; small embroidered green leaves scattered throughout. A-line; winged collar; three fabric covered buttons and bound buttonhole center front closure; swing shape; drop shoulder sleeves with two diagonal darts at wrist; inseam pockets; midcalf length; lined in brownish red satin. Worn by Valentina. Possibly not designed by Valentina due to different construction techniques, but instead a costume built by Kerenskaya.
  • Reproduction of Valentina white evening gown worn by Lynn Fontanne (Object ID #1983.185); white chiffon; low V-neckline; full, long bishop sleeves; attached waist ties wrap around the midriff; very large gored skirt; ankle length; lined.

    This was made for an exhibition. The maker Pam Rehberg was a professor of theatrical costume at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
  • Royal blue silk shantung stole with flocked black linear daisy pattern; Pelerine type; shaped triangle with black silk taffeta linging used as binding; double snap closure. Possibly not designed by Valentina due to different construction techniques. Worn by Valentina.
  • Pale gold silk shantung evening coat; square set 3/4 length sleeves; Hong Kong seam finishes; floor length. Worn with evening gown (Object ID #1983.254).

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne to receive a special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1970, although the gown was created much earlier. This gown was possibly made by Valentina, but has been significantly altered. Purchased at the auction of Lynn Fontanne's estate using funds from Mount Mary alumnae.
  • Off-white silk chiffon over silk evening gown with blue rose print; V-neckline in front, square neckline in back; square set-in sleeves. Worn with evening coat (Object ID #1983.239).

  • Warp print white taffeta gown with pattern of bouquets of light blue roses with green leaves, rosebuds scattered about. A. Halter top bodice; jewel neckline with center front slit, low back with a long center back zipper. Lined in slubby silk plain weave. B. Long skirt; gathered into straight waistband, side inseam pockets, ankle length, unlined, hand finished. Worn by Valentina.

    Worn with stole (Object ID #1995.379.C) to form three piece ensemble.
  • Black silk chiffon blouse; band collar, straight sleeves on the bias, double hook and eye closure at the left side front. Bodice is lined with silk crepe, attached by hand and double overcast. Tiny French seams, hand rolled hems. Worn by Valentina.

  • Brown linen shift dress; jewel neckline with center front slit, eight button center front lap closure, front and back yoke, dolman sleeves, modified brown plastic buttons, two patch pockets at bust, straight skirt, midcalf length. White topstitching throughout. Worn by Valentina.
  • Red tartan plaid wool twill A-line skirt; waistband in red, yellow and black. Front of skirt has two box pleats behind which are pockets, skirt closes at center back with a zipper which has been altered at a later date by adding an inset of fabric at the zipper to increase size of the waist and hips, calf length, unlined.
  • Black flannel overcoat; jewel neckline with purple fox fur collar, center front opening with two large black buttons at neck and waist, long set-in sleeves with purple fox fur cuffs, unlined.
  • White floral matelasse suit. A. Jacket; jewel neckline, ¾ length set-in sleeves, center front opening with three covered buttons, single flap vertical pockets are set into the waist darts, slits at the sides, lined in white silk crepe. B. Skirt; straight waistband with left front closure, pockets set into pleats on the princess line, straight silhouette, ankle length, lined in white china silk. Worn by Valentina.
  • Blue linen day dress; jewel neckline with slit, ¾ length kimono sleeves, center front opening with white buttons to the hem (four buttons are missing), two patch pockets on bust, front and back yoke, knee length, unlined. White topstitching throughout. Marked "V. Schlee" at interior back neckline. Worn by Valentina.
  • B. Stole lays across shoulders. Heavy chevron pattern braid in brown and beige holds pleats in back. Self-facings with more braid, unlined. Hand finished. Worn by Valentina.
