  • Black silk shantung ensemble. A. Jacket; roll collar; 4 domed fabric button opening at center front; 7/8 length set-in sleeves; polished silk black bow ribbon tie at neck; contour darts to hem at front and back; hip length; lined in bright fuschia china silk. B. A-line skirt; no waistband; front has 3 seams, back has 2 seams; zipper set into seam on back left side; lined in black china silk. "F" embroidered in white at inside front waist; knee length.

  • Plaid ensemble. A. Green and purple cotton plaid twill shirt; occasional yellow and white stripe, asymmetrical, wing collar, long kimono sleeves with gussets, center front opening with four yellow plastic buttons, right side front has modified princess seam into the side seam to form a pocket, right side is longer, left side front has a seam under the bust, Shoulder piece has gathering under the bust, right back of bodice continues the modified princess seam up to the left back neckline, left side back has a contour dart, unlined. B. Green, purple, burgundy, and yellow laid wool pants; made in Italy, straight waistband with a button and zipper at the side, tapered, ankle length. Vivienne Westwood Red Label.

  • White floral matelasse suit. A. Jacket; jewel neckline, ¾ length set-in sleeves, center front opening with three covered buttons, single flap vertical pockets are set into the waist darts, slits at the sides, lined in white silk crepe. B. Skirt; straight waistband with left front closure, pockets set into pleats on the princess line, straight silhouette, ankle length, lined in white china silk. Worn by Valentina.
  • Brown linen skirt suit. A. Jacket; collarless, square set-in sleeves, seaming at back creates a peplum shape, three 1/2" covered buttons and bound buttonhole closure at center front. B. Skirt; dirndl style, large pleat worked as part of each inset pocket.

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne. Donor was the niece of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt.
  • Beige and dark brown hand-woven wool tweed suit; yarn appears hand spun with large slubs. A. Jacket; cardigan shape, collarless, six plastic beige buttons and hand stitched buttonholes, slash pocket vents in the back on the princess line. B. Skirt; waist facing, center back zipper, one slash pocket on the right-hand side, separate silk lining attached to the waist facing. Label Valentina.

  • Navy blue wool skirt suit. A. Jacket; dark brown or black fox collar; V-neckline; single button; two patch pockets; princess line; long set-in sleeves with two buttons at cuff; back has single vent; navy silk lining. B. Skirt; straight waistband; center back invisible zipper; front has two sewn-down pleats on the princess line; one sewn-down pleat at center back; lined in black acetate.
  • Red wool jersey suit. A. Jacket; standing collar; two-piece set-in sleeves; cut on the bias; two square black buttons. B. Skirt; slightly gathered at the waist.
  • Black wool suit with green, red, and white slub yarns threaded horizontally through fabric to form stripes. A. Box jacket; square neckline; true double breasted front closure with bound buttonholes; straight sleeves with one button. B. A-line skirt; knee length; zipper broken; missing button at left cuff.
  • Navy blue heavy ridged wool twill suit. A. Jacket; roll collar; long set-in sleeves; bias cut; asymmetric five large pearl buttons and five bound buttonhole closures on grain; lined in navy blue silk. B. Skirt; bias cut wrap skirt; wide overlap; center back seam with two darts on each side; two inch wide waistband with snaps, hooks, and eye closures; lined in navy blue silk.     Worn by donor Mrs. FitzSimmons to the horse races. The winning horse was called "Stupendous," and Mrs. FitzSimmons was wearing the jockey's colors of yellow and purple.
