Black chiffon and lace handkerchief; center is chiffon (12 inch square); 6.5 inch lace borders; 25 inch square. Probably used by Hildegarde in performance. -

White and blue printed silk crepe evening gown; large stylized chrysanthemum print; slim silhouette; cap sleeves; broad shoulders; cut-out section in bodice, held together by beige marquisette; draped skirt with slit; silk at shoulders has been repaired and lined. Custom made for Hildegarde and used as a performance gown in the Persian Room of the Plaza Hotel, New York City. -

Green, bronze, and black plaid silk satin evening gown; tight-fitting bodice of green and black plaid; off-the-shoulder sleeves attached to bodice with fabric strips, stitched at upper arm, then released into fullness and stitched again at sleeve hems; voluminous skirt; pleated 1.5 inches from waistline, released into deep pleat effect; back zipper closure. Gold lamé evening gown; slim silhouette; one-shoulder with one tiny strap that holds left side in place; draped bodice; draped skirt with inserts of complementary teal blue silk chiffon; attached hip corsage of gold lamé and teal blue silk chiffon boned petals; back zipper closure; full evening length. Custom made for Hildegarde in New York City. -

Magenta taffeta evening gown; deep V-neckline in front; short kimono sleeves; pointed bodice; side zipper closure; full skirt, grabbed and stitched together in four small horizontal tucks throughout; ankle length; small train; couture techniques; pleated strip is unsewn on left front shoulder. Worn by Hildegarde. -

Black crepe and chiffon evening gown; four inch wide bias strips of sequins on bodice and one sleeve; rounded neckline; sleeves and top are one piece with gussets under arm; one sleeve is sheer black chiffon; seven small covered button closures at each wrist; eleven covered button closures at center back; slightly padded bustline; black crepe skirt; side train with skirt gathered at side seams to form large scallop; brownish pink lining shows through chiffon between sequin strips. Worn by Hildegarde. -

Off-white crepe and chiffon evening gown; plunging neckline; orange, turquoise, and silver beading along neckline and straps, coming to bow at front; smocking at shoulder straps and midriff; padded bust-line; low back with beaded braid following around; back zipper closure; skirt flares from right below midriff, gathered at bow; full skirt, lined in satin-back crepe. Worn with slip. Purchased in 1942. Worn by Hildegarde. -

Black silk crepe evening gown; strapless; six white narrow vertical strips applied evenly along gown with white bows at top; strips run down dress below knee, flaring out with six godets; black sequin beading runs completely around white strips; corselet bodice understructure, back hook closures; center back zipper with hook and eye closures. Worn by Hildegarde for the first time in Milwaukee in 1948. -

Mustard yellow silk crepe evening gown; V-neckline; sleeveless; shoulder pads; draping in front; mustard yellow brocade ribbon criss-crosses in front; long. Worn by Hildegarde. -

Cranberry red heavy fulled wool flannel swing evening coat; all-over rhinestones applied with rivets; standing collar; set-in sleeves widen at elbow; inseam pockets on modified princess line; cranberry red silk lining; most rhinestone have lost their red paint. Worn by Hildegarde. -

Dark red and black striped wool jacket; straight; no closures; pointed collar; three-quarter set-in sleeves; split cuffs; long double row of self-fabric appliquéd scrolls on either side of front; underlined in red silk. B. Underdress; dark red and black striped wool straight skirt; attached to black silk bodice; sleeveless; nineteen inch long black zipper closure; attached petticoat. C. Dark red wool blouse; rounded neckline front and back; cap sleeves and godets; eighteen inch long hand-overcast center back zipper; slightly fitted with tucks; black silk underlining. -

Putty colored silk jacquard vest; pattern of gray, beige, and brown leaves; shawl collar; seven self-covered buttons and bound buttonholes; fitted; pointed center front; watch pocket on right side; back is plain putty colored silk, underlined in matching silk; half belt with pewter colored metal buckle. Jacket; long and fitted; notched collar; long revers; set-in long sleeves, self-button closure at cuffs; set-in pointed front lapels; three graduated-size self-covered buttons; center front hem has seven inch long cut-away to reveal vest underneath; seven inch long center back vent; lined in beige silk crepe. Inspired by an eighteenth century gentleman's frock coat. B. Skirt; very slim; bias bound slash pockets and slim skirt with bias bound slash pockets; zipper on left side. C. Putty colored silk jacquard vest; pattern of gray, beige, and brown leaves; shawl collar; seven self-covered buttons and bound buttonholes; fitted; pointed center front; watch pocket on right side; back is plain putty colored silk, underlined in matching silk; half belt with pewter colored metal buckle. -

Jacket; short boxy shaped; jewel neckline; two-piece raglan sleeves; diagonal bias-bound breast pockets; two diagonal pockets near hem; concealed buttons with fabric loops down center front; large button at neckline and hemline and bound buttonholes; deep open box pleat down center back; lined in beige silk. B. Slim straight skirt; partially hand-stitched folded center front pleat, ending in deep open pleat with a large crystallized beige button and buttonhole two inches above hem length; eleven inch long center back slit with flap; zipper on the left side. -
