Dress
Gray wool flannel dress; jewel neckline; sleeveless; seam going down center front, forms into box pleat; 2 princess seams that come down into waist and form box pleats, one princess seam starts at shoulder and other starts at middle of front armhole; 3 horizontal seams; one goes through center front seam and is located right under bust, extending from center seam to first princess seams on each side; other horizontal seams are side seams that extend .5 inch from armpits and go to first princess seam closest to side of garment; center back zipper closure that forms into box pleat; 2 back princess seams on either side of zipper, these also form box pleats; knee length. The donor, Sharon Lipinski, constructed this dress in Sister Aloyse Hessburg's Couture class. -

Navy silk chiffon evening gown; large red flowers, tie-dye or batiked fabric; very full sleeves; straight skirt; attached scarf at neckline that flows down back; underdress of navy crepe with beige yoke. Worn by Hildegarde. -
Cocktail dress
Pink silk crepe cocktail dress; jewel neckline; princess seams; long set-in sleeves with zippers at wrists; 7 inch wide band of pink ostrich feathers at hem; knee length; several small wine-colored stains on right chest.

Brown plain weave silk brocade evening gown; made from a sari; gold and peacock blue supplemental weft of mango shoots (paisleys); one-shoulder; side zipper closure; seam at natural waistline; straight skirt, slit up front; border of paisleys down front and around hem; ankle length.
Possibly an Ann Lowe gown based on the distinctive lace trim construction on the interior hem, a signature finishing technique frequently used by Lowe. -

This piece was attributed to Ann Lowe by the donor at the time of donation. There are no labels or markings. It is beautifully constructed, but other than the high quality and donor attribution, there is no other way to verify if this coat was in fact designed by Lowe.
