  • Dark blue sheer chiffon cape; fabric is gathered into a neckline with a bias tie at center front, large hood can also be worn as a double capelet, knee length. Unlined. Worn by Valentina.
  • Gold silk marquisette burnoose cape; shape is triangular with tip snipped off to form a ‘hood’ or turned back section. Tip folds back over the back of the neck, shorter length at center back, unlined, completely hand finished. Unusual piece. Worn with white charmeuse gown (Object ID #1995.342). Worn by Valentina.
  • Medium pink silk cloqué evening cape; quilted fabric; all-over swirling pattern; lined in pink silk taffeta; openings for arms; dips in slight "V" at center back; small train; soiled at back hem; fading throughout. Designer unknown.
  • White curly lambswool cape; stand-up collar; fully lined with tie-dyed silk satin; skin is detaching from lining; several small tears throughout.

    Designed by Cindy Gefke, member of Mount Mary's first Fashion design graduating class in 1969. The coat was purchased by Judy Klemensrud of the New York Times, who gave it to her friend, donor Aileen Ryan.
  • Brown and white wool tweed cape; large, rounded notched collar; three button closure; slits on princess line for arms; lined in brown silk; mid-calf length. Worn with jacket (Object ID #2009.11.34.a) and skirt (Object ID #2009.11.34.b).

  • Ivory organza cape; 5 tiered; short; Peter Pan collar; 5 black jet faceted button and hand-worked buttonhole double-breasted center front closure.

  • Black brushed silk cape; stand up collar; 2 button and loop closure; lining ripping. Worn with matching three piece ensemble (Object ID #1983.193.abc).

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne. This cape was probably made by Lynn Fontanne. Donor was the niece of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt.
  • Black and white twill cape; high funnel neck; black shoulder yoke forms squared-off "V" to bust; eight covered ball button and loop closure; circular shape to knees; area in back has white ground with black squares, remainder of garment is black with line across front; unlined except at shoulders. Probably worn with dress (Object ID #2004.03.664).

Dress; jewel collar; plain short sleeves; raglan-style yoke at front and back of bodice; insets below each sleeve, extending through waist seam and into straight, fitted skirt; mandarin-style closure at left front yoke seam with four carved wooden buttons, self-fabric loops, and snap at neck; zipper closure in left front inset seam; side seam pockets; fully lined; knee length.

    Worn with cape (Object ID #2006.01.14.b) to form two piece ensemble.
