  • A. Yellow paisley pattern silk chiffon evening dress; fit and flare; jewel neckline; natural waistline; sheer overbodice with camisole style underbodice of yellow silk crepe; center back zipper closure; row of tiny covered buttons as faux closure; long straight sleeves with tiny buttons at cuffs; inverted pleats on skirt; ballerina length; lined. Worn with belt (Object ID #1997.158.b).
  • Beige with brown spatter print silk ensemble. A. Fit and flare dress; normal waist, halter neckline, center back nylon zipper. Halter has a front slit with a reverse, skirt is gathered. Unlined, knee length. E. Belt latches in back with hook and eyes and snap closure. Small, flat bow. Used for Valentina's famous "Quick change" routine.

    Goes with coat (Object ID #1995.382.B), jacket (Object ID #1995.382.C), and wrap (Object ID #1995.382.D) to form five piece ensemble.

    Worn with belt (Object ID #2012.07.01.b).

  • Light green silk brocade coatdress; 14th century Italian "Bizarre" pattern in black, brown, green, pink, and beige, outlined in gold metallic thread; hidden button front closure; large self-fabric covered buttons on sleeves and pocket tabs; princess line; very large skirt; attached black silk taffeta lined ascot; motifs are perfectly matched across seams; mini length.
  • A. White cotton sheath dress with gold carnation print; scoop neckline; sleeveless. B. White cotton jacket with gold carnation print; one button at neck; long sleeves; hip length.

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne. Purchased at the auction of Lynn Fontanne's estate using funds from Mount Mary alumnae.

This item was created by Gustave Tassell for Norman Norell fashion house.
