  • A. Gray and white plain weave linen dress; gray bodice, white skirt; sleeveless; low sweetheart neckline; 1.5 inch wide off-the-shoulder straps; center front seam with gathers at bust; large bow and double cording at bust; waistline seam is rounded; back waistline scoops down to lower back; hand-picked long zipper; A-line skirt; ankle length; skirt gathered in center front and center back; entirely backed in white crepe du chine.

  • Dark red plain weave linen ensemble. A. Shift dress; bias cut front bodice; slightly gathered skirt; dropped waistline; center back button closing with five 1 inch red buttons and bound buttonholes; inseam pockets; scoop neckline in back; sleeveless; extended shoulders.

    Worn with stole (Object ID #1997.415.b) to form two piece ensemble.
  • Off-white linen shirt with round neckline, back hook and eye closure. Paired with off-white wool, knee length, pencil skirt. Skirt has hip panels, darts around waistline, and topstitching.
  • Two-piece skirt dress ensemble. Bias-cut rolled collar tunic with inverted pleat back and paneled front. Button closure at back neckline, seamed cap sleeves. Curved in-seam pockets integrated into princess seams. Button-on half belt and snap closures noted. Underlined with silk organza. Paired with paneled pencil skirt.
  • Two-piece skirt dress ensemble. Bias-cut rolled collar tunic with inverted pleat back and paneled front. Button closure at back neckline, seamed cap sleeves. Curved in-seam pockets integrated into princess seams. Button-on half belt and snap closures noted. Underlined with silk organza. Paired with paneled pencil skirt.

Front opening slightly overlaps in V-shape with small notch opening at top of neckline. Three button closure at center front, bound buttonholes, matching fabric-covered buttons. Discoloration at center front closure.

Red sheer cotton batiste blouse; printed in a border print of red, white, blue, gold, and beige florals on a red or black background; square neckline; front snap closure; long cuffed sleeves; gathered at waist with a peplum. B. Red linen flared skirt; seams at center front and center back. C. Red linen tie belt.
  • Bright yellow linen ensemble. A. Over-blouse; low round neckline; white V-shaped insert at neckline banded with purple; full center back zipper closure. B. Suit jacket; semi-fitted; 1.5 inch mandarin collar; 3/4 length sleeves; mock flap pockets. C. Suit skirt; pleated; three 4 inch front inverted pleats; fully lined.

    Worn by donor Mrs. FitzSimmons to the horse races. The winning horse was called "Stupendous," and Mrs. FitzSimmons was wearing the jockey's colors of yellow and purple.
