  • Peacock blue plush knit pile evening ensemble. A. Gown; V-neckline; long bishop sleeves; empire waistline; center front zipper closure; light blue silk crepe bodice, gathers into shoulder yoke; Peacock blue knit pile A-line skirt; floor length. B. Bolero jacket; jewel neckline; long bishop sleeves; center front hook and eye closure; lined in light blue silk crepe.

    Note from Sister Aloyse Hessburg: "Blue knit pile fabric by Borg Textile Group, a Wisconsin industry. They challenged the senior class in 1970 to create garments 'for a winter evening' using their fabric. Christee selected this fabric (at that time the most flexible of their line) and used the silk fabric bodice and lining of silk crepe. The fur closure hooks were the only available on short notice. (Industry would have had time to get correct size and color.) In a way - industry and Mount Mary College were promoting the possibility fo using Borg Textiles to the Wisconsin public."

  • A. Black crepe and fringe evening gown; cowl neckline at front; deep V-neckline at back; thin straps wrapped with fringe; straight silhouette; fringe starts at hips and goes down to floor; applied on base in chevron pattern; floor length. B. Black crepe and fringe capelet; fringe applied to base in chevron pattern; hem of capelet is also chevron shaped; center front opening with snap closure at neck; label: "Mainbocher, 12 Avenue George V a Paris"; twill tape bolduc on back of label: "21381- Mrs. Vreeland".

    This ensemble was given to the donor's mother by a wealthy lady she worked for in New York City in the 1920s and '30s. The woman's identity is unknown. A bolduc was found on back of tag with words "Mrs. Vreeland". This dress might have belonged to Diane Vreeland, although this is not confirmed.

"Beginning Impressions" tag. B. Turquoise chiffon and satin striped cocoon style jacket; thin gold stripe fabric; fabric gathered into neck edge and wrist edges; edges bound with turquoise satin; button and loop closures at wrists; not lined; couture techniques throughout.

Jacket; dark brown or black fox collar; V-neckline; single button; two patch pockets; princess line; long set-in sleeves with two buttons at cuff; back has single vent; navy silk lining. B. Skirt; straight waistband; center back invisible zipper; front has two sewn-down pleats on the princess line; one sewn-down pleat at center back; lined in black acetate.
  • Black wool suit with green, red, and white slub yarns threaded horizontally through fabric to form stripes. A. Box jacket; square neckline; true double breasted front closure with bound buttonholes; straight sleeves with one button. B. A-line skirt; knee length; zipper broken; missing button at left cuff.
  • Yellow double cloth skirt suit. A. Chanel style suit jacket; spread collar; front collar, bands, and pocket trim in yellow and white houndstooth check. B. Straight suit skirt; yellow and white houndstooth check waistband.
  • Khaki and orange wool twill suit. A. Jacket; semi-fitted; upper collar is khaki, wool epaulets are orange; epaulets have silver buttons and bound buttonholes; six silver buttons down front with bound buttonholes; set-in long sleeves; 1.5 inch wide self-fabric belt with leather backing; four keepers and squared silver ball and bar buckle; lined in orange china silk. B. Skirt; A-line; straight waistband; softly gathered panels; front panel of khaki; slit open almost to waistband at center front, creating the look of a center pleat; hand-overcast center back zipper; underskirt has khaki wool front and khaki silk taffeta back; knee length.

B. Straight skirt; bias-bound slashed side pockets; stitched-down tucks and darts; left side zipper.
  • Dark gray wool self-striped suit A. Fitted jacket; collar has zig-zag edges on front; button-front with many small buttons; button detail on front and back of sleeve; seven plastic buttons at center front; three buttons on plackets on each breast; one button on tab on long sleeves; back has two plackets with three buttons each; center back vent. B. Skirt; slim and straight; deep vent at center back; mid-calf length.
