  • Pink, white, and black horizontally striped cotton dress; rolled collar; short kimono sleeves with gussets; bust darts; cuffs edged with black satin; appliquéd vertical black stripes on bodice front; one black plastic button closure; very full skirt; knife pleats at waist.
  • Black wool crepe dress; deep V-neckline to midriff, edged with wide band; wide openings for arms from shoulders to midriff; midriff band with asymmetrical closure; 3 bows at waist; interior bodice with narrow straps for modesty; hook and snap closures; gathered skirt; knee length; lined in black taffeta.

  • Tan dupioni-type weave cotton day dress; rounded roll collar; long bishop sleeves with one button cuffs; flap pockets on chest; center front zipper covered by large placket that buttons; sewn-in side of placket is loose; gathered skirt at natural waistline; knee length; lined; collar, pockets, cuffs, and placket edged in black bias tape; black double-breasted buttons. Missing a belt.
  • Black silk faille fit and flare dress; normal waist; V-shaped neckline; balloon sleeves with darting; uneven hemline skirt, multiple darts; tulip hemline at center front; full evening length.
  • Beige with brown spatter print silk ensemble. A. Fit and flare dress; normal waist, halter neckline, center back nylon zipper. Halter has a front slit with a reverse, skirt is gathered. Unlined, knee length. D. Wrap, single piece of fabric. E. Belt latches in back with hook and eyes and snap closure. Small, flat bow. Used for Valentina's famous "Quick change" routine.

    Goes with coat (Object ID #1995.382.B) and jacket (Object ID #1995.382.C) to form five piece ensemble.

  • Detail of back of evening gown to show where capelet can be attached. Off-white lurex velvet evening gown; worn with capelet (Object ID #1981.107.B) to form two piece evening ensemble. Performance gown worn by Hildegarde.
  • Long off-white silk organdy evening gown with floral embroidery in shades of yellow-gold, bronze, and off-white. Empire style folded yellow-gold silk taffeta attached belt, ending in long and wide shaped floats at top of center back zipper; floats can be worn as train or tied as sash.
  • Black floral silk matelasse ensemble. Fabric is black ground with pink roses and green stems in a warp print. A. Evening gown; strapless; interior bodice built over a strapless, longline bra; asymmetrical front; straight skirt; ankle length; multiple pleats at kick vent. Worn with wrap (Object ID #1997.237.B).

  • Off-white wool coat dress; sheath style; asymmetrical double-breasted; V-neckline with modesty panel; two white circular snaps at right side of V; seam at natural waistline; five white snap closures down left princess line, snaps reinforced on inside with hook and eye closures; center back seam; front and back princess seams running from waistline half way up torso; geometric raglan cap sleeves; square patch pocket on left hip; all seams are flat felled; white silk lining is hand-stitched to outer fabric; a few small stains around top button and at mitred corner on left front panel at hem; just above knee length.

  • Ivory silk twill fit and flare dress; natural waistline; large ruffled collar continues down to waistline; long straight sleeves with cuffs; double belt criss-crosses at center front and secures in back with covered snaps; gathered skirt; mid-calf length; underlined with silk organiza.
  • A. Dark blue wool jersey chemise dress; center front zipper closure; 2 patch pockets; sailor collar; sleeveless; 2 self-fabric ties attached at shoulders. B. Dark blue wool jersey belt.
  • Child's blue pinstriped cotton dress; A-line; sleeveless; scoop neckline; white bands around neckline and armholes; 2 white and yellow daisy appliques at right shoulder, 1 at left, and 2 slightly left of center front; 2 snaps at shoulder; zipper closure at front left, snap below zipper; attached half belt in back with one button closure.

    This dress has features similar to Florence Eiseman's "Functional Fashions" line for children with disabilities from the early 1960s. It is unknown if this dress was officially part of that line or merely uses similar design elements.
  • Dark red cotton interlock shirtwaist dress; natural waistline; notched collar; raglan sleeves with 2 button cuffs; shoulder epaulets; center front snap closure; snap closure at left side panel of skirt; gathered skirt; knee length; attached self-fabric soft wrap belt.
  • Bright pink silk charmeuse gown; ruffle at neck; round front shoulder yoke; long sleeves; unlined; ankle length. Possibly a nightgown.

    This gown was used by Sister Aloyse Hessburg and Charles Kleibacker for their couture class.
  • Brown Eugenie style hat; variegated ostrich plumes trim; brown velvet flat bows.

    Worn with overblouse (Object ID #1996.309.A) and skirt (Object ID #1996.309.B) to form three piece ensemble.
  • A. Off-white cotton piqué dress; circular figured piqué is very heavy; top-stitched neckline and front placket with hidden button closure; deep inverted pleats at side front set into princess seaming. B. Self-fabric belt.
