  • Black and white wool dress; black wool body with white silk insets at collar and cuffs; white notched collar sewn under black V-neckline; "V" is heavily embellished with gold beading, chain, and rhinestones; back shoulder darts; waistline seam falls at natural waist; center back zipper closure; black belt at waist with hook closures in back, attached to gold V at buckle; belt buckle is heavily embellished with gold beading, chain, and clear rinestones as well as tiny pearls; set-in sleeves ending 3.5 inches above wrists, heavily embellished with gold beading, chain, and rinestones; 3.5 inch white silk cuffs that open to outside are attached to black portion of sleeves from the inside; gathered skirt has inseam pockets on both side seams at hips; fully lined.

  • White, light blue, and light pink cotton poplin sheath dress; one-piece; print of abstract blue bamboo leaves with pink butterflies and dragonflies; high scoop neckline, edge-stitched and faced; side darts at bust; lapped metal zipper with hook and eye closure at center back; short set-in sleeves with double layer of gathered ruffles at bottom; mini length skirt with three inch hem; lined with muslin.

  • Off-white wool coat dress; sheath style; asymmetrical double-breasted; V-neckline with modesty panel; two white circular snaps at right side of V; seam at natural waistline; five white snap closures down left princess line, snaps reinforced on inside with hook and eye closures; center back seam; front and back princess seams running from waistline half way up torso; geometric raglan cap sleeves; square patch pocket on left hip; all seams are flat felled; white silk lining is hand-stitched to outer fabric; a few small stains around top button and at mitred corner on left front panel at hem; just above knee length.

    Worn by Peg Bradley. This dress is from Yves Saint Laurent's Pop Collection of 1965-66 and is featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's catalog of the exhibition of his work. It is identified as his "Poliakoff" dress, inspired by the paintings of Serge Poliakoff.
  • Ivory wool dress; sweetheart neckline; ivory tulle illusion panel with lace detailing covers bosom to standing collar; similar illusion panel at back; center back hook and eye closures; short wool sleeves, gathered at shoulders; long tulle undersleeves with lace detailing; full length skirt; soutache braid trim all over bodice and down center front and back of skirt; slightly trained; cotton lining. Part of a theater suit with coat (Object ID #2022.05.01.b).

    This suit is an exact reproduction of a 1908 theater suit in the collection of the Wisconsin State Historical Society. The donor made this replica as her senior project in Fashion Design at Mount Mary College in 1974.

  • Pink and dark olive green plain weave linen dress; pink bodice, olive green skirt; jewel neckline; short kimono sleeves; green skirt begins at seam across bust; center front seams; contour darts to line; knee length skirt; dark green section dips to waist in back; backed in shantung; hand-overcasting throughout; center back zipper closure.
  • Blue silk charmeuse dress; high V-neckline; tiny cap sleeves; A-line bias-cut skirt with center front seam; center back zipper closure; skirt gathered at center back.

  • Black and white twill dress; white ground with bold graphic print of black squares and large areas of solid black; U-shaped neckline; sleeveless; ball buttons and loops at shoulders; knee length; ties pinned on at waist side seams. Probably worn with cape (Object ID #2004.03.665).

  • Yellow wool twill shirtwaist dress; jewel neckline; front placket is shaped and top-stitched; long sleeves; self-fabric belt ties in front and disappears into side seams; straight skirt; inseam pockets; mid-calf length; underlined with silk chiffon; Hong Kong seam finishes.
