    Printed chiffon sheath dress with standing collar, back zipper closure, and long set-in sleeves. Red silk lining, size 12.
  • Sister Aloyse Hessburg holds a dress she designed and created, standing in what appears to be a fashion department classroom. The dress was worn by Mrs. Frances Howard Robb (wife of James Robb) at the White House wedding of her son Charles Robb to Lynda Bird Johnson, daughter of President Lyndon B. Johnson, on December 9, 1967.

  • Dark red evening bolero jacket with scoop neckline; deeply plunging at center front. Two hook and eye closures at overlapped center front waist. Dolman sleeves with invisible piecing at cuff for a tight fit. Unlined, completely hand-overcast and finished. Worn by Valentina.
  • Black silk velvet evening bolero; V-shaped plunging neckline, one hook and eye closure at center front. Shaped hemline rises higher at center front, dipping at center back. Long Dolman sleeves with unusual pattern forming a gusset-like underarm seam. Unlined. Completely hand-finished with overcast seam. Worn by Valentina.
  • Black silk faille evening bolero jacket; jewel neckline, shaped hemline in front. Cut on the bias. Bias cut straight long sleeves. Unlined, seams are all hand overcast. Worn over evening gown (Object ID #1995.347). Worn by Valentina.
  • Black silk faille strapless evening gown; Natural waist; horizontal and vertical seaming, darts and boning in bodice; two turned back triangular pieces above bust have hand-appliquéd velvet leaves; Full length, flared skirt has pockets in seams at side center front. Completely hand-overcast and finished. Worn with evening bolero (Object ID #1995.335).

  • Black panne velvet evening cape; jewel neckline, one hook and eye closure at the neck, center back seam, shaping through the shoulders, midcalf length, unlined, unfinished. Seams turned in and double overcast by hand. Large tear near right shoulder, opening near hem on one side has been widened. Worn by Valentina.
  • Black silk tissue taffeta fit and flare cocktail dress; halter neckline with multiple pleats and intricate seaming through the bustline, two pieces of fabric off of the center back, natural waist dipping at the center back, flare skirt cut on the bias with small pleats, midcalf length. Completely hand over-cast and hand rolled hems. Worn by Valentina.
  • Navy blue wool bouclé cardigan jacket; jewel neckline with one large covered button closure at the neck, center front opening is formed with the selvedges, two diagonal single welt pockets, drop shoulder sleeves with gussets. Sleeves are cut on the bias. Swing style slightly longer at center back, hip length. Unlined, hand finished. Worn by Valentina.
  • Beige georgette ensemble of a dress, jacket, and belt. A. Dress has halter neckline that closes at nape with two hook and clip closures, sleeveless, natural waistline, bodice closes at lower center back with five hook and clip closures. Skirt gathered at waist, floor length with extra panel that wraps over back closure and is secured with six snaps. B. Jacket with high neckline with buttonhole and clip closure at nape, bracelet length modified Angel sleeves that start at elbow. Rest of jacket has no seams and sits like a shawl. Large slit in center front. Back is bare. C. Belt has six hook and eye closures at back, sits at natural waist, brown decorative arrow detail at center front.

Short overblouse; jewel neckline, center front opening, slight asymmetrical wrap front with three hook and eye closures at the waist, bracelet-length dolman sleeves are cut in one with bodice, unlined with hand-overcast seams and double overcast facings. B. Skirt gathers into a straight waistband with hook and eye closures, midcalf length, unlined. All hand-overcast. Worn by Valentina.
