Black velvet bolero
Black silk velvet evening bolero; V-shaped plunging neckline, one hook and eye closure at center front. Shaped hemline rises higher at center front, dipping at center back. Long Dolman sleeves with unusual pattern forming a gusset-like underarm seam. Unlined. Completely hand-finished with overcast seam. Worn by Valentina. -

Black silk organza sheer windowpane blouse; jewel neckline, peek-a-boo waist, asymmetrical wrap front with hook and eye closure, straight elbow length sleeves, multiple darts for shaping, camisole-style lining of silk crepe, completely hand-overcast and double overcasting on facings and camisole. Off-white silk crinkle chiffon blouse printed with a very loose, sketchy, linear print of flowers and butterflies throughout; jewel neckline, short cap sleeves are cut in one with the bodice, peek-a-boo waist with bias binding and attached bias string tie, self-fabric second layer over bustline, open at center front, waist darts. French seams and hand finishing. Worn by Valentina. -

Beige silk georgette blouse and skirt ensemble; beige ground with an all-over brown spatter pattern to imitate stone. A. Tailored blouse; winged collar, center front button closure, sleeveless with bias binding, darts for shaping, double layer of fabric over bust area, unlined. B. Gathered skirt into straight waistband, midcalf length, unlined, hand finished with French seams throughout. Worn by Valentina. -

Black wool crepe bolero jacket; neck falls straight from neckline without closure, kimono square set elbow length sleeves, lined with ivory silk crepe. Worn by Valentina. -

Cut from one piece of cloth; only seams are underarm, shoulder dart, and vertical bust dart. Completely hand overcast; facings are double overcast. Worn by Valentina. -

Gold silk hopsack bolero jacket; V neckline slightly open at top, asymmetrical front wrap secured with gold hardware style snap hook and metal eyes, drop shoulder sleeves with gussets, dips slightly at center back, unlined, hand finished. Worn by Valentina. -

Gold silk marquisette burnoose cape; shape is triangular with tip snipped off to form a ‘hood’ or turned back section. Tip folds back over the back of the neck, shorter length at center back, unlined, completely hand finished. Unusual piece. Worn with white charmeuse gown (Object ID #1995.342). Worn by Valentina. -

Dark blue sheer chiffon cape; fabric is gathered into a neckline with a bias tie at center front, large hood can also be worn as a double capelet, knee length. Unlined. Worn by Valentina.
