    This item is from Spring 1966.

    This dress has features similar to Florence Eiseman's "Functional Fashions" line for children with disabilities from the early 1960s. It is unknown if this dress was officially part of that line or merely uses similar design elements.
  • White, light blue, and light pink cotton poplin sheath dress; one-piece; print of abstract blue bamboo leaves with pink butterflies and dragonflies; high scoop neckline, edge-stitched and faced; side darts at bust; lapped metal zipper with hook and eye closure at center back; short set-in sleeves with double layer of gathered ruffles at bottom; mini length skirt with three inch hem; lined with muslin.

Worn with coat (Object ID #1997.422.b) to form two piece ensemble. This item was created by Gustave Tassell for Norman Norell fashion house.
  • Pearl gray crepe dressing gown; square set-in sleeves, very full; 3 inch turned-back cuffs; 10 button front closure, hand-worked buttonholes and covered buttons; floor length; lined in pink crepe. Worn with sash (Object ID #1985.08.b).

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne. This dressing gown is heavily inspired by a Molyneux piece worn by Lynn in the play "O Mistress Mine." Lynn had this dressing gown made by the custom dressmakers at Saks Fifth Avenue for her personal use for a more affordable price. Donor was the niece of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt.

Pink silk shantung dress; overlaid with very heavy, elaborate, 3-dimensional cream cotton machine lace; bateau neckline; fitted bodice; sleeveless; natural waistline; gathered skirt; knee length. B. Pink silk taffeta half-slip; white grosgrain ribbon waistband; center back zipper closure; knee length. D. Pink silk shantung tie belt; 66 inches long.

    Worn with stole (Object ID #1990.251.c) to form four piece ensemble.
  • Pale pink silk organza evening gown ensemble. A. Gown; v-neckline, long full bell sleeves, criss-cross bodice extending into tie belt at center front, very full flared skirt, ankle length. B. Neck sash; 120" long by 5.5" wide, doubled. C. Slip; one layer of organza and one layer of taffeta, V-neckline with 2" strap narrowing to 1" at shoulder, full length. Slight discoloration throughout, torn in several places near waist and bodice. Some patching has been done.

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne. Either this version or the white version (Object ID #1983.185) was worn to the 1941 Academy Awards ceremony. Donor was the niece of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt.
