Letter from Frances Howard Robb to Sister John Francis Schuh, December 20, 1967
A letter from Mrs. Frances Howard Robb, mother of Charles Robb, to Sister John Francis Schuh, president of Mount Mary College (Milwaukee, Wisconsin). Mrs. Robb discusses the reaction to the dress she wore at her son's wedding to Lynda Bird Johnson, daughter of President Lyndon B. Johnson, at the White House on December 9, 1967. Sister Aloyse designed and created the dress and Sister Rosemarita created the buttons. Mrs. Robb indicates that she will return the dress to Mount Mary College; it is part of the Fashion Archive and has been digitized for the Digital Fashion Archive. -

Viscose/polyester fabric at bodice sides and skirt left is light blue with small uneven wrinkles, scoop neckline, shoulder yoke, sleeveless, six center front buttons to a dropped waistline, short flared skirt, lined in light blue china silk. -

A. Brown wool tweed wrap-around full skirt; pleated, hem decorated with printed satin band 5 inches wide with brown satin ribbon above and black grosgrain ribbon below, above knee length. B. Brown wool tweed jacket; wide portrait collar covered with brown embroidery throughout, knotted fringe on edge of collar, long set-in sleeves with embroidery at wrist, fitted through waist, hip length, one button closure, lined in orange taffeta.
