Red sheer cotton batiste blouse; printed in a border print of red, white, blue, gold, and beige florals on a red or black background; square neckline; front snap closure; long cuffed sleeves; gathered at waist with a peplum. B. Red linen flared skirt; seams at center front and center back. C. Red linen tie belt.
  • Dark red and black wool gabardine ensemble. A. Jacket; high standing collar, extended armscye, long black knit wool sleeves, center front closure of many snaps covered by faux buttons, many seams create a nipped waistline and wide hips, flaps for faux pockets on hips, sewn-on belt buckles in front, back is black knit wool with a dark red gabardine swag extending from the shoulders to the waist, black velvet rose in the swag, lined in red acetate taffeta. B. Straight skirt; princess seaming in front, black knit wool center back, knee length, Zipper closure on the side back princess seam, lined in red acetate taffeta. Ensemble is named "Red Hot."

  • Child's white cotton piqué tabard; jewel neckline; diagonally placed red rick-rack; red and blue appliquéd birds inside resulting diamond shapes; red ties at sides.
  • Child's blue and white striped cotton/polyester/lycra blend swimsuit; red tulip with white steam appliqué on left side front; white straps; straps criss-cross in back and attach to back of swimsuit with buttons.
  • Red straw hat; two inch straight brim; 1.5 inch hat rise with flattened, rounded crown; large fabric poppy with black and green leaves at center back; black grosgrain bow at center back. Donor was Frank Olive's sister.
  • B. Red silk taffeta evening shawl with silk-screened palmetto frond design; 58 inches long; oval shape; lined in black satin; buttonhole, missing button.

    Goes with dress (Object ID #2003.03.11.a) and coat (Object ID #2003.03.11.c) to form three piece set.

    Worn by donor Aileen Ryan. The fabric was designed by Sister Remy Revor based on a historic Milwaukee design. The ensemble was created on designer Rosalie Macrini's receipt of an award from Mount Mary College in the late 1960s.

    This ensemble was the first official donation to Mount Mary's Historic Costume Collection (now the Fashion Archive).

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne. Purchased at the auction of Lynn Fontanne's estate using funds from Mount Mary alumnae.
  • Red tartan plaid wool twill A-line skirt; waistband in red, yellow and black. Front of skirt has two box pleats behind which are pockets, skirt closes at center back with a zipper which has been altered at a later date by adding an inset of fabric at the zipper to increase size of the waist and hips, calf length, unlined.
