  • Dark red plain weave linen ensemble. A. Shift dress; bias cut front bodice; slightly gathered skirt; dropped waistline; center back button closing with five 1 inch red buttons and bound buttonholes; inseam pockets; scoop neckline in back; sleeveless; extended shoulders.

Curved in-seam pockets integrated into princess seams. Button-on half belt and snap closures noted. Underlined with silk organza. Paired with paneled pencil skirt.

    Worn by donor Mrs. FitzSimmons to the horse races. The winning horse was called "Stupendous," and Mrs. FitzSimmons was wearing the jockey's colors of yellow and purple.
