  • A. Black crepe shift dress; mock turtle collar with taupe and dark brown braid trim; straight sleeve with three rows of braids and zippers at the wrist; knee length; back button closure with wooden buttons; three rows of braid down center front; lined in black silk. B. Black crepe belt with taupe and dark brown braid trim; velcro closure.
  • A. Brown, multi-colored dress; diagonal stripes; center back zipper; elastic at waist; sleeves are double layered, belled at cuff to under sleeve; collar tie at center back; chevron stripes at center front and center back. B. Matching belt of same fabric.
  • Dark brown crepe dress; square neckline; empire style silhouette; front and back wrap panel over narrow skirt.
  • Brown gray wool crepe dress decorated with beads; scoop neckline; sleeveless; fitted through darts; straight skirt; knee length; center back zipper; beading is clear bugle beads creating outlines of irregular circles scattered throughout the dress.
  • B. Olive green jersey shift dress; center back closure bound with suede; wrap-around collar with dog leash clip at center front; long sleeves; knee length.

    Worn with jacket (Object ID #1991.46.A) to form two piece ensemble.
  • Geometric print silk blouson dress in brown, white, and navy blue; natural waistline; wide navy blue waistband; jewel neckline with deep shaped yoke; cap sleeves; gathered skirt with navy blue insert down center front; hand-overcast.

    Made by donor, Mary Fulop Nowakowski, Mount Mary Fashion Design graduate, class of 1974. Created for the 1973 Mount Mary Fashion show.
  • Brown crepe dress; standing collar; dropped waistband; short gathered skirt; long raglan bishop sleeves with cuffs; center back covered ball button with faggotted strip closure over hand-picked zipper; lined in beige silk.

    Created by Sister Aloyse Hessburg's student, Kay Richter Bogust, for the 1970 couture class.
  • Reddish brown plain weave cotton dress; deep V-neckline; shawl collar; empire waistline; mid-calf length; elbow length kimono sleeves; French darts; flare skirt; waist dips to deep V in back. Donor let down hem.

    Purchased and worn by the donor, Nancy Smart, to wear to her engagement parties in 1948.
  • Purple, brown, and white plaid plain weave wool shirt dress; collarless; two French darts; long dolman sleeves with fitted cuffs; gathered bias cut skirt; eleven brass hook and eye closures.
  • Dark brown and orange plaid wool twill dress; jewel collar; semi-fitted bodice with below-bust shirring; long dolman sleeves; single-breasted; 3 black domed buttons and tie at bust; gathering at midriff yoke; flared skirt with side zipper closure; mid-calf length.
  • Brown wool double knit sheath dress; 2 parallel white stripes run down center front; set of 3 white/2 black stripes run down princess lines; stripe pattern repeated on back; high scoop neckline; left side metal zipper closure, hand-inserted; hook and eye and snap closures at shoulder; 7.5 inch band at bottom with horizontal stripes.

  • Brown wool jersey interlock day dress; collar and large rounded lapels with top-stitching; front opening with one self-fabric button and bound buttonhole; inset self-fabric belt ties on side; front opening continues down into skirt; two self-fabric buttons and bound buttonholes; short gusseted sleeves; back panel extending down into skirt ends in two deep kick pleats.

  • A. Brown and taupe panné velvet fit and flare evening gown; natural waistline; standing collar; straight sleeves; gathered skirt with satin and velvet band at bottom. B. Brown and taupe panné velvet belt; 4 inches wide.

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne. Donor was the niece of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt.
  • Taupe wool broadcloth suit. A. Jacket; polished tricot brown and black floral vest and trim attached as embellishment on jacket extending to back, shawl collar, slight shoulder pads, long set-in two-piece sleeves, sleeve back is floral tricot, patch pockets on chest with buttoned flap, center front closure of four buttons, buttons are silver tone with similar floral motif in khaki and black, lined in taupe taffeta. B. Pants; contour waistband, center front fly zipper, slash single welt pocket in front, long narrow legs with zipper in back, eight buttons on each leg up the side seam from the hem, unlined.

    This item is from Fall/Winter 2006-2007.
  • Dark brown wool crepe swing jacket; Chelsea collar with multiple rows of topstitching, drop shoulder sleeves with double gusset, buttonhole opening through collar with bias tube tie closure, two tiny slash pockets, inverted pleat at center back. Multiple rows of topstitching down center front, hemline, and at back yoke. Reversible. Worn by Valentina.
