    Worn with cape (Object ID #1983.43.b) to form two piece ensemble.
  • Off-white muslin toile; deep V-neckline; many pins at neck to demonstrate tape at neck to prevent gaping; shoulder yoke to V to bust; sleeveless; A-line skirt on bias with center front seam; back open to shoulder, then zipper closure; back shoulder yoke.

    This toile was used by Sister Aloyse Hessburg and Charles Kleibacker for their couture class.

Off-white silk broadcloth dress with narrow khaki stripe; V-neckline; two-piece kimono sleeves; fitted waistline with tucks; deep patch pocket on right hand side; stripes used horizontally for a wide band down center back and down front to conceal zipper; slim straight silhouette; mid-calf length. B. Khaki silk broadcloth belt.
  • Off-white wool coat dress; sheath style; asymmetrical double-breasted; V-neckline with modesty panel; two white circular snaps at right side of V; seam at natural waistline; five white snap closures down left princess line, snaps reinforced on inside with hook and eye closures; center back seam; front and back princess seams running from waistline half way up torso; geometric raglan cap sleeves; square patch pocket on left hip; all seams are flat felled; white silk lining is hand-stitched to outer fabric; a few small stains around top button and at mitred corner on left front panel at hem; just above knee length.

  • Off-white crepe and chiffon evening gown; plunging neckline; orange, turquoise, and silver beading along neckline and straps, coming to bow at front; smocking at shoulder straps and midriff; padded bust-line; low back with beaded braid following around; back zipper closure; skirt flares from right below midriff, gathered at bow; full skirt, lined in satin-back crepe. Worn with slip. Purchased in 1942. Worn by Hildegarde.

  • Off-white silk chiffon over silk evening gown with blue rose print; V-neckline in front, square neckline in back; square set-in sleeves. Worn with evening coat (Object ID #1983.239).

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne to receive a special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1970, although the gown was created much earlier. This gown was possibly made by Valentina, but has been significantly altered. Purchased at the auction of Lynn Fontanne's estate using funds from Mount Mary alumnae.

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne. Donor was the niece of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt.
  • White linen muslin handkerchief with Hildegarde's signature embroidered in pink thread; eleven inches square. Owned by Hildegarde.

  • Off-white wool plaid jacket; plaid in off-white, brown, and yellow; roll collar; long set-in sleeves; front opening with snap closures; three trios of gold buttons at center front; two patch pockets on hips; hip length; lined in beige silk shantung.
