  • Off-white silk chiffon over silk evening gown with blue rose print; V-neckline in front, square neckline in back; square set-in sleeves. Worn with evening coat (Object ID #1983.239).

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne to receive a special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1970, although the gown was created much earlier. This gown was possibly made by Valentina, but has been significantly altered. Purchased at the auction of Lynn Fontanne's estate using funds from Mount Mary alumnae.

Gown; V-neckline; long bishop sleeves; empire waistline; center front zipper closure; light blue silk crepe bodice, gathers into shoulder yoke; Peacock blue knit pile A-line skirt; floor length. B. Bolero jacket; jewel neckline; long bishop sleeves; center front hook and eye closure; lined in light blue silk crepe.

    Note from Sister Aloyse Hessburg: "Blue knit pile fabric by Borg Textile Group, a Wisconsin industry. They challenged the senior class in 1970 to create garments 'for a winter evening' using their fabric. Christee selected this fabric (at that time the most flexible of their line) and used the silk fabric bodice and lining of silk crepe. The fur closure hooks were the only available on short notice. (Industry would have had time to get correct size and color.) In a way - industry and Mount Mary College were promoting the possibility fo using Borg Textiles to the Wisconsin public."

  • Blue linen day dress; jewel neckline with slit, ¾ length kimono sleeves, center front opening with white buttons to the hem (four buttons are missing), two patch pockets on bust, front and back yoke, knee length, unlined. White topstitching throughout. Marked "V. Schlee" at interior back neckline. Worn by Valentina.

Most of flocking has detached. Several beige colored stains on skirt. Worn by Valentina.
