  • Metallic gold brocade overblouse; jewel neckline with bias binding; sleeveless with bias binding at armholes; large jet faceted teardrop beads hand sewn at each floral center of brocade.

    Donor Rosemary Wachowiak was Frank Olive's sister.
  • A. Sheer off-white organza evening blouse; peasant style; short horizontal gold and silver threads; jewel neckline ties at back; round shoulder yoke, body and sleeves gathered and added on top of yoke; full long sleeves gathered into tied cuffs; unlined; hip length. D. Gold rope belt crocheted around two lengths of gold and white fabric-covered cord. Part of a larger ensemble with skirt (Object ID #2009.11.48.b), blouse (Object ID #2009.11.48.c), and belt (Object ID #2009.11.48.e).

  • Gold silk hopsack bolero jacket; V neckline slightly open at top, asymmetrical front wrap secured with gold hardware style snap hook and metal eyes, drop shoulder sleeves with gussets, dips slightly at center back, unlined, hand finished. Worn by Valentina.
  • Gold silk marquisette burnoose cape; shape is triangular with tip snipped off to form a ‘hood’ or turned back section. Tip folds back over the back of the neck, shorter length at center back, unlined, completely hand finished. Unusual piece. Worn with white charmeuse gown (Object ID #1995.342). Worn by Valentina.
  • Light green silk chiffon evening cape with metallic gold stripes; large red stain area at lower back near hem; floor length.
  • Lace gown; bodice of gold lame lace, purple crinkled taffeta straps, bow at center front under bodice, empire waistline, skirt of brown floral lace with green and orange flower clusters, slim skirt has princess seaming and short train in back, invisible zipper at center back.

  • Gold double cloth evening coat; large swirl design in fabric; jewel neckline; modified princess line; long straight set-in sleeves; buttons down front under placket; lined in gold satin; above the knee length.
  • Metallic gold lamé brocade cocktail dress; print of pink peonies, pale blue flowers, and gold leaves; scoop neckline; sleeveless; attached self-belt at waist; slim straight skirt with tucks and draping over hipline; bodice underlined with pink silk slip; knee length.
  • Black velvet cocktail dress; straight silhouette; scoop neckline; long set-in sleeves; dropped waistline; gold leaves around seam between bodice and skirt; pleated skirt; center back zipper closure; knee length.

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne. Purchased at the auction of Lynn Fontanne's estate using funds from Mount Mary alumnae.

  • Gold jersey ankle length dinner dress; gathered jewel neckline with small slit on center front, bodice has side seams. High-waisted skirt with seams on center front and princess line, no side seams. Batwing long sleeves, back button closure at neck. Large keyhole upper back is open between neck and midriff, back waist is pieced in five narrow V-shaped panels divided by a metal zipper with hook and eye at top of skirt. Back of skirt has seams on the princess line. Dress is very worn, especially at seams; large repairs on front of bodice, several small patches.

    According to Charles Kleibacker this dress is from the personal wardrobe of Gloria Swanson (1899-1983).
  • Gold silk and faille taffeta dress; A-line construction; asymmetrical closure with hip zipper and four bound buttonholes; small stand-up collar; 3/4 length sleeves; fully lined.

    Worn with matching hat (Object ID #1967.02). Worn by donor, Mrs. Frances Howard Robb, at the wedding of her son Charles Spittal Robb to Lynda Bird Johnson, the daughter of President Lyndon B. Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson, at the White House, December 9, 1967.
