This dress is from Florence Eiseman's "Functional Fashions" line for children with disabilities from the early 1960s. -

In May 1964, Mount Mary College awarded an Honorary Degree to Nelle Harper Lee, Pulitzer Prize winning author of To Kill A Mockingbird. In accepting the honor Ms. Lee traveled to Mount Mary and took part in commencement ceremonies, which resulted in a friendship between her and Sister Mary John Francis Schuh, President of Mount Mary. -

Brown window-pane plaid wool sheath dress; embellishments of turquoise and dark green wool yarn, turquoise and white print fabric, shells, and triangular turquoise and yellow plastic sequins. Embellishment at center front from neck to hem. Sleeveless, scoop neckline in front, zipper closure in back, above knee length, straight silhouette, lined in brown taffeta.
