  • Aqua silk peau de soie cape; lined in silk broadcloth; floor length. Worn with evening gown (Object ID #1981.23). Performance ensemble worn by Hildegarde.
  • Red chiffon ensemble. A. Blouse; sheer sleeves cuffed with crystal buttons; rolled-over collar; center back zipper closure. B. Culotte pants; front zipper closure. C. Scarf. From Hildegarde's personal wardrobe.
  • A. Multi-colored silk chiffon evening gown with woven stripes; bucol fabric in green, red, and blue; jewel neckline; full raglan sleeves; A-line silhouette; cut on bias; hand-picked back zipper with four covered decorative buttons; long skirt. B. Peach silk chiffon underdress; V-neckline front and back; long skirt. C. Multi-colored silk chiffon scarf; bucol fabric in green, red, and blue; worn at neckline, flows down back. Performance ensemble worn by Hildegarde.
  • Celadon green double silk ribbed twill evening coat; inset "V" at back neck; Ruana shape: square open in front, sides sewn together to knees, open to ankles; longer in back than front. Worn by Hildegarde as a performance coat.
  • Green silk chiffon evening gown; long trailing cape sleeves; attached long scarf forms high neckline and trails down back; shoulder yoke points to deep V in front; five layers of different shades of green; back zipper closure; crepe underdress; label is missing; floor length. Custom made as a performance gown for Hildegarde.
  • Charcoal gray silk kimono-style evening gown; red and orange shapes running vertically from armscye to bottom of skirt (likely a batik process); 3/4 length sleeves with turned-back cuffs; slits at lower edge of skirt; attached scarf flows from neckline; long skirt.

  • Navy silk chiffon evening gown; large red flowers, tie-dye or batiked fabric; very full sleeves; straight skirt; attached scarf at neckline that flows down back; underdress of navy crepe with beige yoke. Worn by Hildegarde.
  • Black chiffon evening gown; sweetheart neckline; lace bodice with pink underneath; padded puff sleeves; padded bustline; full skirt; side zipper closure; stiff along hemline; crepe underskirt is weighted. Purchased 2/29/1940. Worn by Hildegarde. This gown was custom-made for Hildegarde at Bergdorf-Goodman
  • Ivory satin evening gown; design of cut velvet flowers; sleeveless; mandarin collar. Performance evening gown worn by Hildegarde.
  • Cranberry red heavy fulled wool flannel swing evening coat; all-over rhinestones applied with rivets; standing collar; set-in sleeves widen at elbow; inseam pockets on modified princess line; cranberry red silk lining; most rhinestone have lost their red paint. Worn by Hildegarde.
  • Mustard yellow silk crepe evening gown; V-neckline; sleeveless; shoulder pads; draping in front; mustard yellow brocade ribbon criss-crosses in front; long. Worn by Hildegarde.
  • A. Mauve silk charmeuse evening gown; trimmed in burgundy silk velvet at neckline and armscyes; plunging neckline at front and back; sleeveless; bias cut; mermaid silhouette; unlined; ankle length. B. Burgundy velvet belt; lined with mauve silk charmeuse; ties at side.

    According to Sister Aloyse Hessburg, this gown is a copy of the bronze gown by Chauvel (2012.01.51.AB). This gown is attributed to "Cafe de Paris in London by Ilene Adair."
  • Off-white silk matelasse evening gown; princess style; blue beaded trim at neck and sleeve edges; floor length. Worn with evening cape (Object ID #1981.22). Performance ensemble worn by Hildegarde.
  • Dark red silk dress; A-line; finely pleated ruffling around neckline, center front placket, sleeves, and skirt hem; long sleeves; five square crystal buttons on placket; hand-picked zipper closure; knee length. From Hildegarde's personal wardrobe.
  • Black lace evening gown; lace over black chiffon and beige crepe; flowing lace sleeves; attached chiffon neck scarf. Worn by Hildegarde.
  • Silver lamé evening gown; plunging V-neckline; heavily padded shoulders; batwing sleeves, zippers at wrists; three open-ended darts at bustline; empire waistline with red beaded lace over cream netting, same trim on lower sleeves; center back zipper closure; inverted box pleat from waistline down; skirt slit below knee; rounded off hemline; front skirt has short overskirt with rounded edge; back skirt has godet at center back for flare, forming a train. Performance gown worn by Hildegarde.
  • Black silk crepe evening gown; strapless; six white narrow vertical strips applied evenly along gown with white bows at top; strips run down dress below knee, flaring out with six godets; black sequin beading runs completely around white strips; corselet bodice understructure, back hook closures; center back zipper with hook and eye closures. Worn by Hildegarde for the first time in Milwaukee in 1948.
  • Off-white crepe and chiffon evening gown; plunging neckline; orange, turquoise, and silver beading along neckline and straps, coming to bow at front; smocking at shoulder straps and midriff; padded bust-line; low back with beaded braid following around; back zipper closure; skirt flares from right below midriff, gathered at bow; full skirt, lined in satin-back crepe. Worn with slip. Purchased in 1942. Worn by Hildegarde.
  • Black crepe and chiffon evening gown; four inch wide bias strips of sequins on bodice and one sleeve; rounded neckline; sleeves and top are one piece with gussets under arm; one sleeve is sheer black chiffon; seven small covered button closures at each wrist; eleven covered button closures at center back; slightly padded bustline; black crepe skirt; side train with skirt gathered at side seams to form large scallop; brownish pink lining shows through chiffon between sequin strips. Worn by Hildegarde.
  • Shiny black metallic rainbow-effect evening gown; V-neckline with gathers at "V"; bias cut; low back; five hooks and eyes at back closing; full evening length. Metallic threads are breaking. Performance gown worn by Hildegarde.
