    Navy blue heavy wool twill ski pants; no separate waistband; side zipper; buttoned flap pockets in front; back waist has straps and buckles for adjustments; tight knitted cuffs at ankle; unlined.

    These pants are worn with a sweater (Object ID #1988.143.a). The third piece of this ensemble is a skirt (Object ID #1988.143.b) that can also be worn with the sweater; the three pieces are not intended to be worn simultaneously.

  • Child's navy blue and green plaid acrylic blend jumper; dropped front yoke worked on bias; slightly gathered body; seven brass buttons form opening down left side front; self-fabric ties form bow at center back.
  • Child's red and navy blue plaid wool jumper; V-neckline; sleeveless; rib trim; A-line skirt; back belt.
  • Navy blue wool bouclé cardigan jacket; jewel neckline with one large covered button closure at the neck, center front opening is formed with the selvedges, two diagonal single welt pockets, drop shoulder sleeves with gussets. Sleeves are cut on the bias. Swing style slightly longer at center back, hip length. Unlined, hand finished. Worn by Valentina.
  • Navy blue and pink paisley silk chiffon gown; made of sari fabric; bodice constructed in criss-cross style; raglan sleeves flow from front and back panels that are attached at neck edge; back tie belt.

    Designed and sewn by Lynn Fontanne in 1965 using fabric from an Indian sari purchased at a London antique store. Worn by Lynn during an interview on PBS in 1980, and in the photograph linked below, "Lynn Fontanne with Cole Leslie and Alfred Lunt." Donor was the niece of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt.
  • Navy blue silk charmeuse evening gown; high banded neckline, fits tight to throat; sleeveless; low-cut armscyes front and back; empire waistline; 1 inch band and tie at waist, trimmed with silver ring; floor length. Originally worn with a matching scarf which is missing.
  • Yellow, navy blue, orange, and white plaid wool evening gown; hung on the bias; apron front with self-fabric neck strap; self belt attached on sides only; bodice has waist darts and is lined in muslin; center back metal zipper closure; asymmetrical train; skirt lined in navy blue satin.
