    The lower part of the gown has water stains on it.

    Worn by Audrey Ross. She was part of the Ross family who owned J. H. Collectibles.

    Based on the time period this was likely designed for Maurice Rentner Limited.

  • White lace Chanel style jacket; jewel neckline; hidden snap center front closure with 5 black braid buttons; long straight sleeves with 2 braid buttons at cuffs; 2 mock pockets with flap/button at bust; 2 single welt pockets with flap/button at hip; scalloped lace edging on all edges and pocket flaps.
  • Man's white muslin tuxedo shirt; wing collar; 10 tucks on front; French cuffs. A couple of buttons are missing.
  • Light steel blue double knit ensemble. A. Dress; jewel collar; plain short sleeves; raglan-style yoke at front and back of bodice; insets below each sleeve, extending through waist seam and into straight, fitted skirt; mandarin-style closure at left front yoke seam with four carved wooden buttons, self-fabric loops, and snap at neck; zipper closure in left front inset seam; side seam pockets; fully lined; knee length. B. Cape; funnel collar; mandarin-style closure at left front with four carved wooden buttons; front and back have matching center insets, front is open along these seams below chest level; fully lined; just past elbow length.

  • Navy blue linen dress; sleeveless; asymmetric closure of eleven 1/2 inch covered buttons/bound buttonholes; round neckline with rust colored binding; rust binding on full length of left side of garment; softly gathered skirt.

    This dress was created by Donald Brooks for Claire McCardell.
  • Black silk crepe evening gown; strapless; six white narrow vertical strips applied evenly along gown with white bows at top; strips run down dress below knee, flaring out with six godets; black sequin beading runs completely around white strips; corselet bodice understructure, back hook closures; center back zipper with hook and eye closures. Worn by Hildegarde for the first time in Milwaukee in 1948.

Label: "Bruyere Paris Place Vendome". B. Black patent leather belt; four inches wide. Performance gown worn by Hildegarde.
