Skirt; waist facing, center back zipper, one slash pocket on the right-hand side, separate silk lining attached to the waist facing. Label Valentina. -

B. Red silk taffeta evening shawl with silk-screened palmetto frond design; 58 inches long; oval shape; lined in black satin; buttonhole, missing button.
Goes with dress (Object ID #2003.03.11.a) and coat (Object ID #2003.03.11.c) to form three piece set.
Worn by donor Aileen Ryan. The fabric was designed by Sister Remy Revor based on a historic Milwaukee design. The ensemble was created on designer Rosalie Macrini's receipt of an award from Mount Mary College in the mid-1960s.
This ensemble was the first official donation to Mount Mary's Historic Costume Collection (now the Fashion Archive). -
Stole
Royal blue silk shantung stole with flocked black linear daisy pattern; Pelerine type; shaped triangle with black silk taffeta linging used as binding; double snap closure. Possibly not designed by Valentina due to different construction techniques. Worn by Valentina. -

She presents Ronald Amey, visiting fashion designer from New York, and Pierce Rosenberg, president of the Grand Stores. The event was likely in celebration of the establishment of the "Mount Mary College - the Grand Stores Designer Scholarship" program, which enabled Mount Mary to bring in "eight or nine designers of note to lecture in residence during each school year."
