Red silk taffeta evening gown with silk-screened palmetto frond design; motifs outlined in black beads on bodice; large circles on stem separated by 4 leaves on front skirt; square neckline; short sleeves; empire waistline; A-line skirt has inverted box pleat at center front, 2 pleats at back; black satin ribbon attached at waistline; center back zipper closure; internal corset; lined in red rayon.

    Goes with stole (Object ID #2003.03.11.b) and coat (Object ID #2003.03.11.c) to form three piece set.

    Worn by donor Aileen Ryan. The fabric was designed by Sister Remy Revor based on a historic Milwaukee design. The ensemble was created on designer Rosalie Macrini's receipt of an award from Mount Mary College in the late 1960s.

    This ensemble was the first official donation to Mount Mary's Historic Costume Collection (now the Fashion Archive).

    Worn with stole (Object ID #1990.251.c) to form four piece ensemble.
  • Long off-white silk organdy evening gown with floral embroidery in shades of yellow-gold, bronze, and off-white; fitted strapless bodice with boned inner constructed bodice; empire style folded yellow-gold silk taffeta attached belt, ending in long and wide shaped floats at top of center back zipper; floats can be worn as train or tied as sash; shorter straight front, longer and fuller back; two attached slips are hand-overcast.

    This shrug was used by Sister Aloyse Hessburg and Charles Kleibacker for their couture class.
