Ivory wool dress; sweetheart neckline; ivory tulle illusion panel with lace detailing covers bosom to standing collar; similar illusion panel at back; center back hook and eye closures; short wool sleeves, gathered at shoulders; long tulle undersleeves with lace detailing; full length skirt; soutache braid trim all over bodice and down center front and back of skirt; slightly trained; cotton lining. This suit is an exact reproduction of a 1908 theater suit in the collection of the Wisconsin State Historical Society. Dress without cape
Light steel blue double knit ensemble. A. Dress; jewel collar; plain short sleeves; raglan-style yoke at front and back of bodice; insets below each sleeve, extending through waist seam and into straight, fitted skirt; mandarin-style closure at left front yoke seam with four carved wooden buttons, self-fabric loops, and snap at neck; zipper closure in left front inset seam; side seam pockets; fully lined; knee length.
Worn with cape (Object ID #2006.01.14.b) to form two piece ensemble.

Evening gown
Pale gray satin evening gown; spaghetti straps covered in bar and round rhinestones; princess seams; high waistline; covered button and loop closure in back; trained A-line skirt, backed in white organza; couture techniques with hand-finishing.
Created by Kelly Frohrib in Sister Aloyse Hessburg's couture class, but never picked up. -

Burgundy crepe evening gown; straps are lattice-like construction created with grosgrain ribbon and crepe; midriff construction is same as straps; straight skirt with slit at center front; invisible side zipper closure; hook closures at bodice; skirt lined in acetate; bodice lined in self-fabric; ankle length.

White polyester crepe evening gown; jewel neckline; short kimono cap sleeves; draped in front to center of midriff; scalloped oval appliqué in center of midriff; center of appliqué decorated with clear and silver bugle beads and large rhinestone pin; waistline rises in front, falls in back; darting at back bodice; hand-picked zipper; straight skirt; slit at back hem; ankle length; lined in white polyester. Zipper teeth have given out.

Four piece ensemble
Black, white, and beige striped silk chiffon ensemble. A. Blouse; high neckline with small standing collar; four snaps at collar; long sleeves ending in bound cuffs; sleeves gathered at shoulder cap; flared and gathered peplum; large ruffle from left shoulder down and incorporated into peplum; hand-rolled hems on fly-away ruffle; two snap closures at left waist. B. Harem pants; band at waist; two snaps and zipper closure at center back; voluminous pant legs end in tight cuffs at ankles with each cuff closed with two snaps. C. Belt; middle part of belt lined with solid taupe fabric under silk, and black on the back; unbacked ties at either end; chiffon at middle of belt is gathered. D. Light taupe silk charmeuse teddy; bias-cut; V-neckline; spaghetti straps; gathering at bust; small inverted triangular cut-out just below center bust; seams down center back and center front; very short inseam. Accompanied by original sketch of garment (Object ID #2024.02.02).
Designed and built by the Fashion Design student as a couture project in 1981 at Mount Mary College. Val recalls being mentored by Sister Aloyse Hessburg and Charles Kleibacker (especially in fitting). Gown
Magenta wool crepe cocktail gown; bateau neckline at front; 45 covered buttons with loops running diagonally from right front shoulder to hip line; sleeveless; back has asymmetrical neckline and back detail; ankle length; white stains near hem.

Pale pink tulle and silk taffeta prom gown; pink tulle pink taffeta; pale pink feathers around bust; rhinestone straps; tulle decorated with embroidered pale pink flowers and rhinestones; fitted torso; flared skirt; covered buttons and loops in back; ankle length.
Made by the aunt of the donor, Gaetanina Balistreri, for Balistreri to wear to the 1943 Mount Mary College Junior Prom. The gown was originally made strapless, but Mount Mary College required straps, so rhinestone straps were added. -

Note from Sister Aloyse Hessburg: "Blue knit pile fabric by Borg Textile Group, a Wisconsin industry. They challenged the senior class in 1970 to create garments 'for a winter evening' using their fabric. Christee selected this fabric (at that time the most flexible of their line) and used the silk fabric bodice and lining of silk crepe. The fur closure hooks were the only available on short notice. (Industry would have had time to get correct size and color.) Needlework sample panel
White muslin sample strip of various needlework techniques; examples include pleating, hand-made buttons, hand-worked buttonholes, braid stitched on tulle, quilting, lace insertion, tucks, ruffles, and cording.
The School Sisters of Notre Dame had a sewing workshop and produced samples of the type of work that they could do.
