Turquoise chiffon and satin striped cocoon style jacket; thin gold stripe fabric; fabric gathered into neck edge and wrist edges; edges bound with turquoise satin; button and loop closures at wrists; not lined; couture techniques throughout.

Chapman Co. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Sister Mary Nora Barber, president of Mount Mary College, mentioning Mr. Schmidt's visit with Sister Aloyse Hessburg (head of the fashion design program at Mount Mary) and complimenting the training Ruth McDuffie, a Chapman Co. employee and Mount Mary graduate, received at Mount Mary.

    The School Sisters of Notre Dame had a sewing workshop and produced samples of the type of work that they could do. This particular sample demonstrated techniques used for christening gowns and other things.
  • White muslin sample strip of various needlework techniques; examples include pleating, hand-made buttons, hand-worked buttonholes, braid stitched on tulle, quilting, lace insertion, tucks, ruffles, and cording.

    Worn by donor Mrs. FitzSimmons to the horse races. The winning horse was called "Stupendous," and Mrs. FitzSimmons was wearing the jockey's colors of yellow and purple.
