  • Black crepe and chiffon evening gown; four inch wide bias strips of sequins on bodice and one sleeve; rounded neckline; sleeves and top are one piece with gussets under arm; one sleeve is sheer black chiffon; seven small covered button closures at each wrist; eleven covered button closures at center back; slightly padded bustline; black crepe skirt; side train with skirt gathered at side seams to form large scallop; brownish pink lining shows through chiffon between sequin strips.   • Off-white crepe and chiffon evening gown; plunging neckline; orange, turquoise, and silver beading along neckline and straps, coming to bow at front; smocking at shoulder straps and midriff; padded bust-line; low back with beaded braid following around; back zipper closure; skirt flares from right below midriff, gathered at bow; full skirt, lined in satin-back crepe. Worn with slip. Purchased in 1942. Worn by Hildegarde.
  • Black silk crepe evening gown; strapless; six white narrow vertical strips applied evenly along gown with white bows at top; strips run down dress below knee, flaring out with six godets; black sequin beading runs completely around white strips; corselet bodice understructure, back hook closures; center back zipper with hook and eye closures. Worn by Hildegarde for the first time in Milwaukee in 1948.
  • Silver lamé evening gown; plunging V-neckline; heavily padded shoulders; batwing sleeves, zippers at wrists; three open-ended darts at bustline; empire waistline with red beaded lace over cream netting, same trim on lower sleeves; center back zipper closure; inverted box pleat from waistline down; skirt slit below knee; rounded off hemline; front skirt has short overskirt with rounded edge; back skirt has godet at center back for flare, forming a train. Performance gown worn by Hildegarde.

    According to Sister Aloyse Hessburg, this gown is a copy of the bronze gown by Chauvel (2012.01.51.AB). This gown is attributed to "Cafe de Paris in London by Ilene Adair."
