Barbara Newby Borgwardt was a Fashion Design major, Class of 1970. She later served as a member of the Fashion Department faculty at Mount Mary after she graduated. This piece was completed while she was a faculty member teaching Fashion Illustration. -

The first woman is wearing a floral and striped sweater with dark pants and heeled boots. The second wears a high neck sleeveless fitted dress with some sort of fringe or hanging fabric from the neck and slit in the skirt. The third is wearing a sleeveless scoop neck skirt gathered in the front and the last is wearing a drop waist floral coat with a dark lapel. There is no year and no artist name. The measurements are 17 x 14 inches. "Iva Braovac" is written in pencil in bottom right corner, meaning she was likely the artist.
This artwork was featured in the 1990 Fashion Show Program, "Zeitgeist, spirit of the times...". Iva Braovac, Katy Schwengel, Becky Huth, and Janet Protz were Mount Mary Fashion Design students in the early 1990s, but it is unknown whether they graduated from the program. -

Navy blue linen dress; sleeveless; asymmetric closure of eleven 1/2 inch covered buttons/bound buttonholes; round neckline with rust colored binding; rust binding on full length of left side of garment; softly gathered skirt.
This dress was created by Donald Brooks for Claire McCardell. -
Evening gown
Black silk crepe evening gown; strapless; six white narrow vertical strips applied evenly along gown with white bows at top; strips run down dress below knee, flaring out with six godets; black sequin beading runs completely around white strips; corselet bodice understructure, back hook closures; center back zipper with hook and eye closures. Worn by Hildegarde for the first time in Milwaukee in 1948. -

Green, bronze, and black plaid silk satin evening gown; tight-fitting bodice of green and black plaid; off-the-shoulder sleeves attached to bodice with fabric strips, stitched at upper arm, then released into fullness and stitched again at sleeve hems; voluminous skirt; pleated 1.5 inches from waistline, released into deep pleat effect; back zipper closure.
