  • Pale pink tulle and silk taffeta prom gown; pink tulle pink taffeta; pale pink feathers around bust; rhinestone straps; tulle decorated with embroidered pale pink flowers and rhinestones; fitted torso; flared skirt; covered buttons and loops in back; ankle length.

    Made by the aunt of the donor, Gaetanina Balistreri, for Balistreri to wear to the 1943 Mount Mary College Junior Prom. The gown was originally made strapless, but Mount Mary College required straps, so rhinestone straps were added.
  • Sage green crepe A-line evening gown; center front seam; long set-in sleeves trimmed in matching fox fur; attached scarf at neckline, acting as draped collar at front and flowing down back of dress; hand-picked zipper closure; fully lined; small yoke at upper back; ten inch flounce at hemline; full length.
  • Charcoal gray silk kimono-style evening gown; red and orange shapes running vertically from armscye to bottom of skirt (likely a batik process); 3/4 length sleeves with turned-back cuffs; slits at lower edge of skirt; attached scarf flows from neckline; long skirt.

  • Warp print white taffeta gown with pattern of bouquets of light blue roses with green leaves, rosebuds scattered about. A. Halter top bodice; jewel neckline with center front slit, low back with a long center back zipper. Lined in slubby silk plain weave. B. Long skirt; gathered into straight waistband, side inseam pockets, ankle length, unlined, hand finished. Worn by Valentina.

    Worn with stole (Object ID #1995.379.C) to form three piece ensemble.
  • Off-white silk charmeuse peignoir gown; bias cut, standing collar, drop shoulder long sleeves with gussets, pointed seaming into shoulder, dips to "v" at center back, high waist forms a point at center front and center back, full evening length flared skirt. All seaming is hand-faggoting, fabric over-printed with subtle brushy floral. Worn with ochre crepe cape (Object ID #1995.369). Worn by Valentina.
  • A. Purple crepe back satin evening gown; Grecian inspired, very deep U-shaped neckline, sleeveless with shoulder pads. A-line skirt, ankle length. Unlined. B. Very long sash of the same fabric. Possibly worn by Lynn Fontanne.
  • Warp print white taffeta gown with pattern of bouquets of light blue roses with green leaves, rosebuds scattered about. A. Halter top bodice; jewel neckline with center front slit, low back with a long center back zipper. Lined in slubby silk plain weave. B. Long skirt; gathered into straight waistband, side inseam pockets, ankle length, unlined, hand finished. C. Stole; rectangular. Possibly this material was pleated and attached to the back of the halter top to form a bustle. Worn by Valentina.

  • Silk chiffon Indian inspired paisley print gown; satin ribbon stripe woven in; warm toned; fit and flare silhouette; dropped waistline, follows line of paisley print; high neckline with trailing neck scarf; straight sleeves with zippers at wrists; gathered, full skirt; floor length; lined in nude silk chiffon.
  • Black wool flannel empire gown; narrow straps; ankle length straight skirt; hem trimmed in brown mink; small slits near side hems; center back zipper; lined in black taffeta.
  • Slip style; low V-neckline; beige spaghetti straps; two layers printed silk chiffon and three layers plain white silk chiffon; floor length. Worn with poncho (Object ID #2002.84.08.B) and scarf (Object ID #2002.84.08.C) to form three piece ensemble. Custom made for Hildegarde as a performance gown.

Poncho; seams at center front and back; open at sides; self-covered button closure at neck. C. Scarf; pieced to form shoulder yoke with flounce. Custom made for Hildegarde as a performance gown.

  • Magenta wool crepe cocktail gown; bateau neckline at front; 45 covered buttons with loops running diagonally from right front shoulder to hip line; sleeveless; back has asymmetrical neckline and back detail; ankle length; white stains near hem.
