    Designed by the donor, Jan Carter Osterholm, a Mount Mary alumna, while working for Andrea Polizzi.
  • Pearl gray crepe dressing gown; square set-in sleeves, very full; 3 inch turned-back cuffs; 10 button front closure, hand-worked buttonholes and covered buttons; floor length; lined in pink crepe. Worn with sash (Object ID #1985.08.b).

    Worn by Lynn Fontanne. This dressing gown is heavily inspired by a Molyneux piece worn by Lynn in the play "O Mistress Mine." Lynn had this dressing gown made by the custom dressmakers at Saks Fifth Avenue for her personal use for a more affordable price. Donor was the niece of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt.

Black crepe coat; jewel neckline; one large 1 1/4 inch black plastic button; asymmetrical closure with four 3/4 inch black plastic buttons at waist; actual closures are 2 buttons inside and large snap on edge; two large patch pockets on hips; 7/8 length set-in sleeves; A-line silhouette created through an inverted pleat on back shoulder; knee length; lined in black silk taffeta. B. Black crepe belt; two buttonholes on each end; lined in black silk taffeta.

  • Sage green crepe A-line evening gown; center front seam; long set-in sleeves trimmed in matching fox fur; attached scarf at neckline, acting as draped collar at front and flowing down back of dress; hand-picked zipper closure; fully lined; small yoke at upper back; ten inch flounce at hemline; full length.
  • Black crepe and chiffon evening gown; four inch wide bias strips of sequins on bodice and one sleeve; rounded neckline; sleeves and top are one piece with gussets under arm; one sleeve is sheer black chiffon; seven small covered button closures at each wrist; eleven covered button closures at center back; slightly padded bustline; black crepe skirt; side train with skirt gathered at side seams to form large scallop; brownish pink lining shows through chiffon between sequin strips. Worn by Hildegarde.

Worn with slip. Purchased in 1942. Worn by Hildegarde.
