Dark navy blue silk tissue taffeta evening ensemble. A. Wrap-around blouse; V-neck; narrow shawl collar; long Dolman sleeves with unusual seaming; long wrap ties thread through opening in blouse; completely hand finished and over-cast. B. Skirt; stitched-down inverted pleats at center front and back; Triangular shaped back yoke has covered button/loop closure, one button is missing; Hand finished; Unlined; Full evening length. Worn by Valentina. -

Three piece ensemble
Warp print white taffeta gown with pattern of bouquets of light blue roses with green leaves, rosebuds scattered about. A. Halter top bodice; jewel neckline with center front slit, low back with a long center back zipper. Lined in slubby silk plain weave. B. Long skirt; gathered into straight waistband, side inseam pockets, ankle length, unlined, hand finished. C. Stole; rectangular. Possibly this material was pleated and attached to the back of the halter top to form a bustle. Worn by Valentina. -

Copper colored silk taffeta wrap-around overskirt; waistband has extended hook and eye closure at center front, skirt does not meet at center front, two bronze changeable silk taffeta panels at sides, antique gold taffeta panel at back, full evening length. Shown with underskirt (Object ID #2008.01.44). Worn by Valentina. -
Skirt
Pale pink silk taffeta skirt; flared, ankle length. Seam allowances are hand-overcast. There are many threadless stitching lines, suggesting the garment was remodeled from another garment. Probably by Valentina, to be worn under her overskirts. Originally no hem or waistband. To prepare the skirt for an exhibition, Sister Aloyse Hessburg put in a turned, machine-stitched hem and added a pink silk ribbon waistband. -
Skirt
A. Red silk taffeta tartan plaid skirt with green, yellow and white stripes. Dirndl skirt; gathered waist, knee length, has many small pleats, hem narrowly turned under once but not sewn, pins holding seam at the center back, unlined, unfinished. Red grosgrain ribbon hanging from the waist, likely meant as a waistband, white Valentina label. Worn by Valentina.

Natural tan straw picture hat; large-brimmed; top decorated with white lace appliqués; pale yellow taffeta ribbon hatband; rounded crown; pale yellow headsize band. -
Jacqueline de Ribes evening gown
One shoulder purple velvet and taffeta gown; shoulder strap on left, built-in corset of black mesh, taffeta over-drape covering the bust and creating a large skirt to the right side, taffeta drape lined in clear polyester mesh to stiffen, left side zipper, bow on shoulder and on right side of skirt at the hip, ankle length. Line across the skirt where it probably draped across a hanger. -

Pale pink tulle and silk taffeta prom gown; pink tulle pink taffeta; pale pink feathers around bust; rhinestone straps; tulle decorated with embroidered pale pink flowers and rhinestones; fitted torso; flared skirt; covered buttons and loops in back; ankle length.
Made by the aunt of the donor, Gaetanina Balistreri, for Balistreri to wear to the 1943 Mount Mary College Junior Prom. The gown was originally made strapless, but Mount Mary College required straps, so rhinestone straps were added. -
Givenchy Pink Bouclé Suit
Pink two-piece, double breasted skirt suit. Paneled jacket, back tied half belt, and notched lapels. ¾ length paneled sleeves. Paired with slightly gathered pencil skirt. All lined. Size 6. -

A. Red taffeta cape; covered button opening on back shoulder; edged in black braid and sequins; waist length in front, hangs to floor in back; slight train. B. Black taffeta blouse; sleeveless. C. Black taffeta skirt; straight; ankle length; red lining. D. Black taffeta sash; black medallion and fringe at front. Worn by Hildegarde. -

Magenta taffeta evening gown; deep V-neckline in front; short kimono sleeves; pointed bodice; side zipper closure; full skirt, grabbed and stitched together in four small horizontal tucks throughout; ankle length; small train; couture techniques; pleated strip is unsewn on left front shoulder. Black silk taffeta evening coat; A-line trapeze shape, jewel neckline, tucks off of neckline; one button and bound buttonhole closure at center front neck, short batwing sleeves with tucks, A-line skirt with deep pleats at underarm side seams, hidden pockets, tea length, appears to have been re-lined. Worn by Valentina. -
Dressing gown
Pearl gray crepe dressing gown; square set-in sleeves, very full; 3 inch turned-back cuffs; 10 button front closure, hand-worked buttonholes and covered buttons; floor length; lined in pink crepe. Worn with sash (Object ID #1985.08.b).
Worn by Lynn Fontanne. This dressing gown is heavily inspired by a Molyneux piece worn by Lynn in the play "O Mistress Mine." Lynn had this dressing gown made by the custom dressmakers at Saks Fifth Avenue for her personal use for a more affordable price. Donor was the niece of Lynn Fontanne and Alfred Lunt. -
