  • Peacock blue plush knit pile evening ensemble. A. Gown; V-neckline; long bishop sleeves; empire waistline; center front zipper closure; light blue silk crepe bodice, gathers into shoulder yoke; Peacock blue knit pile A-line skirt; floor length. B. Bolero jacket; jewel neckline; long bishop sleeves; center front hook and eye closure; lined in light blue silk crepe.

    Note from Sister Aloyse Hessburg: "Blue knit pile fabric by Borg Textile Group, a Wisconsin industry. They challenged the senior class in 1970 to create garments 'for a winter evening' using their fabric. Christee selected this fabric (at that time the most flexible of their line) and used the silk fabric bodice and lining of silk crepe. The fur closure hooks were the only available on short notice. (Industry would have had time to get correct size and color.) In a way - industry and Mount Mary College were promoting the possibility fo using Borg Textiles to the Wisconsin public."

Cloak; high neckline; open-style 3/4 length sleeves that widen, then are tacked up; shorter in front to waistline; cascades down to hemline; slight train. Worn by Hildegarde.

Gown; high collar neckline; long slim sleeves; cut on bias to create diagonal strip; straight silhouette ending in eleven inch flounce; back zipper closure; ankle length. B. Scarf; bias cut; 125 inches long. Custom made for Hildegarde as a performance gown.

Royal blue and magenta wool cape; royal blue front, magenta back; small cap sleeves; very full. Performance ensemble worn by Hildegarde.

Evening gown; long torso with bands of ostrich feathers on skirt; sleeveless; neckline dips to low V in back; trimmed with band of rhinestones and bugle beads. B. Silk organza capelet; banded with ostrich feathers; lined with silk chiffon; dirty. Performance ensemble worn by Hildegarde.

Red silk taffeta evening gown with silk-screened palmetto frond design; motifs outlined in black beads on bodice; large circles on stem separated by 4 leaves on front skirt; square neckline; short sleeves; empire waistline; A-line skirt has inverted box pleat at center front, 2 pleats at back; black satin ribbon attached at waistline; center back zipper closure; internal corset; lined in red rayon. C. Black silk evening coat; brown fur cuffs; red silk taffeta lining is made of the dress fabric; no closures; label: "Rosalie Macrini"; mid-calf length.

    Goes with stole (Object ID #2003.03.11.b) to form three piece set.

    Worn by donor Aileen Ryan. The fabric was designed by Sister Remy Revor based on a historic Milwaukee design. The ensemble was created on designer Rosalie Macrini's receipt of an award from Mount Mary College in the late 1960s.

    This ensemble was the first official donation to Mount Mary's Historic Costume Collection (now the Fashion Archive).

B. Green silk satin bolero jacket; heavily encrusted with gold braid and red and amber faceted flat beads; Hook and eye closure. Turkish inspired. 1958 showroom sample.
